Biography

TRAINING: A day of training for this fight is just like a day in training for every fight every day. We train a little bit of everything all week long. But each fight we spend a little more time on the good parts of my opponent’s game.
 
When and why did you start training for fighting? I started fighting in 2012 after graduating college and training to try out for the Olympic wrestling team with Ben Askren. He persuaded me into the sport of mixed martial arts instead.
 
What ranks and titles have you held? TUF 19 light heavyweight winner, XFL light heavyweight champ, blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu

Warren Sapp and Muhammad Ali

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC?
I’m one step closer to my goal / dream of being the world champion.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn?
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with my degree in Business Administration. And I have an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts from Lincoln College.
What was your job before you started fighting? College wrestling coach and a Supervisor at Holland Trucking and Freight

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition?
Two-time college wrestling All-American, once in Junior College (6th) and once in NCAA D3 (2nd)
