Biography

TRAINING: Wake up in the morning, prepare my breakfast, kiss my kids and go to ATT. There are always good trainers and fighters who can help me prepare for anything.

When and why did you start training for fighting? I started in 2000 and made my debut. My second MMA fight was with the G.O.A.T., Anderson Silva, who was Shooto Champion at the time.

What ranks and titles have you held? Recently I went to the World No Gi championship for the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation in 2013 and fought in O.N.E. Battleground, where I beat three guys in one night in a tournament in 2014

Do you have any heroes? My hero is my daddy and my son

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? I am ready to come back and fight for the UFC again. This time I am really more mature and motivated to show what I still have.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? Was about to start a Sport Science degree but didn't finish due to the BJJ and MMA competitions.

What was your job before you started fighting? I’ve been teaching BJJ since I was 18 years old. I started with poor kids back in the day in Brazil. I will still do it for life pretty much.

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion, Pan American Champion and Champion of Rio de Janeiro. Bruxells International Grappling champion, 1st Place ADCC Brazilian Trials, winner of many tournaments in Brazil.

Specific accomplishments in pro competition? Champion of Deep Japan, Meca World Champion in Brazil, ShowFight in Brazil, Shooto Switzerland.

Ranks in any martial arts styles: Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, D1 wrestling in Brazil.
