Canadian Comedy Awards

This page will expand as more questions arise. If you have a question that is not covered here, please contactus.

GENERAL INFO

Who's running this ship?
> This year's awards are being overseen by Kyra Williams and Simon Fraser.

When are the submission, nomination, or voting periods? (or when are the awards?)
> All this information will be shared on the front page of this website and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds as it becomes available.

Why wasn't my favourite comedian nominated?
> Probably because your favourite comedian wasn't submitted. Submissions are the responsibility of the artists who wish to be considered, or producers who wish to have their products considered, for nomination.

What is the history of the CCAs?
> You can read the history of the CCAs on our Wikipedia page.

Is the CCFE still involved with the CCAs?
> No, in 2016, the Board of the CCFE under the direction of Tim Progosh decided to focus on the Canadian Comedy Hall of Fame and the CCAs reverted to the trademark holders.

VOTER REGISTRATION

Am I eligible to vote?
> If you are a Canadian citizen or resident, then you are eligible to vote. If you are not a Canadian citizen or resident, then you are not eligible to vote. Please refer to our privacy policy to see what data we collect on all visitors to our website. We use some of this data to weed out fraudulent voters.

How do I become an industry voter?
> If you are not already affiliated with any of the unions or professional organizations listed on the voter registration form and you know that you have the expertise to be a industry voter, or if you have paid for a submission and are not yet registered as an industry voter, contact us.

How do I delete my account?
> Unsubscribing from any of the emails we send you will trigger an opt-out of receiving future emails and will also delete your account. Alternately, if you don't want to wait to receive an email from us before unsubscribing, you can simply login to your account, go to our Contact Us page and message us the word UNSUBSCRIBE.

How can I be disqualified from participating in the CCAs?
> If you are not Canadian or a Canadian resident, you will be disqualified from participating in the CCAs.

If you register with an email address that bounces back the emails we send you and you are unwilling to change the email address in your voter registration, you will be disqualified from participating in the CCAs.

If you are found to have committed any kind of voter or voting fraud, you will be disqualified from participating in the CCAs.

SUBMISSIONS

Am I eligible to make a submission?
> If you are a Canadian citizen or resident, then you are eligible to make a submission. However, you are ineligible to submit a product or artist to whom you have no affiliation. The one exception to this is Comedic Artist of the Year. Anyone may submit any Canadian comedic artist to this category.

How do I make a submission to the CCAs?
> Once the submission period opens, login to your account and click on SUBMIT. Select the category you wish to which you want to make a submission. Fill in the form and click the submit button. Pay your submission fees before the submission period ends.

How much is the submission fee?
> $20 per submission. Canadian. Non-refundable. Payable by PayPal or credit card.

How do I edit my submission?
> Login to your account and click the SUBMIT link. All your existing submissions are listed on this page. Click the Edit link beside the submission you wish to correct. Make your edit and click the Update button. You are able to edit your submissions until the nominations period ends.

How do I delete my submission?
> Login to your account and click the SUBMIT link. Click the Delete link beside the submission you wish to delete.

I paid my submission fee but there was no change to the payment status on my Submit page. Why?
> All payments are processed manually on our end. Once we have confirmed payment, the status of the submissions for which you paid will be updated to read PAID and you will no longer be able to delete the submission for which you paid.

What should I link to in the submission form?
> We don't have rules over what you link to. Whether you want to link to your website, a trailer video, a highlight reel, or a complete product is entirely up to you. But here are some suggestions:

Ask yourself, "What would I need to be able to effectively judge this submission?" For live performance submissions, link to a recording of the live performance. For audio submissions, link to an audio recording. For film/TV/web submissions, link to a video recording.

Adhere to the criteria. Some categories are for a specific episode; only link to that specific episode you're submitting.

Keep in mind how long each voter is likely going to spend consuming the content at the link you provide.

Submissions are closed. Can I still make a submission?
> No. Submissions are closed.

VOTING

How do I vote?
> Login to your account during the voting period and click on the VOTE link. Select the category you wish to vote in and then vote for one of the nominations in that category. You can change your votes until the voting period ends.

What is this new 'expertise' category?
> Registered industry voters are able to select one category in which they have an expertise. Their nominations and votes in their selected expertise category count as 3 nominations or votes. Their nominations and votes in all other categories are counted as normal.

How are nominations decided?
> Registered industry voters login to their accounts during the nomination period. They select the five submissions that they believe should be nominated. The five submissions with the most nominations from industry voters are nominated. The process is entirely automated on our end.

How are votes counted?
> Voters login to their accounts during the voting period. They select the one nomination in each category that they believe should be awarded. The nomination with the most votes is awarded. The process is entirely automated on our end

Voting is closed. Can I still vote?
> No. Voting is closed.
