Given time and space we finally appreciate RE6 for the dumb actioner it is. Nice port, too. [June 2016, p.84]

Resident Evil 6 makes a great introduction for newcomers to try the RE games. That being said, besides some graphical improvements there isn't any new content being offered for players who've already played the game.

A good remaster job of an already good and content-filled game, but not without its flaws especially in the graphical department. If you've never played the original game it could be worth a ride, otherwise it won't add anything more to the plate.

Overall, Capcom were just too ambitious with Resident Evil 6, and unfortunately this port doesn’t really do anything to address any of its glaring issues.

I don't think that there is really any new content here for fans who played the game comprehensively the first time around, so it is those returning players who should consider their purchase most carefully.

Of course it looks better than on the old gen consoles a few years back. But the conceptual and mechanical shortcomings are still evident. This serves as a warning in which direction Capcom shouldn’t go with the sequel.

If you are hell bent on grabbing RE6, wait for a price drop. $20 is even too steep in my opinion.

It's true that, not unlike RE 5 (and maybe 4), we are far from the gameplay the original fans loved so much.

But it's important to highlight the qualities of said-gameplay.

The dynamics of the controls have been refined since RE4 or 5. You could say that Capcom embrassed it's new approach to this amazing series. It's much more reflex orientated and allows us to perform stylistic actions, which I appreciate. Most of all, the controls and timing is very precise and fine-tuned and this creates a tight gameplay that can create fun challenges in high difficulty modes but remains accessible in the lower ones. You will find that for every situation and every enemies there is always the brute force strategy but there is also the subtle and often easier one that can beat the hardest enemies if you learn to time and chain your actions the right way.

The game also offers 4 campaigns with 2 playable characters, each one offering it's own abilities. Each campaign is linked to a particular setting/mood and a type of gameplay/action too. So, depending on your feelings that day, you can choose to play one or the other. The Leon campaign is the closest to the originals RE (racoon city / manor environments), the Chris - punch the boulder - Redfield campaign is more a call of duty style of game with lots of gunfights and covers, and the Jake campaign is more experimental with more hand to hand combats and a Nemesis tracking you. Ada Wong was originally intended as a full solo campaign (which is probably the way to experience it), and is kind of a mix of the 3 other campaigns with a stealth approach to some situations.

To make things more interesting, Capcom has included lots of challenges and modes to play solo or even drop in a player's campaign to fight alongside her/him or against! Like RE5, it's best to play the campaign in coop but the AI is smart enough that it will not be a burden to experience all this in solo. Like all Resident, the replay value is immense with abilities to unlock and modes and challenges to complete.

I can't stress enough how Resident Evil 6 is an amazing game. It might not be what lots of people expect from a Resident Evil (I personnaly appreciate the evolution, but I know lots of people don't feel this way), but if you want a well crafted, rich and well polished game that takes you all over the world in various environments like deadly cemeteries, zombie infested campus, BOWs (Bio Organic Weapon) with machine guns in corporate headquarters in japan, submarines, american cities overwhelmed by the dead, churches, founderies, and more, look no further.

    My Rating: 6 of 10

    Weak points (Single player only):
    - The game is far from its roots and originality
    - The graphical improvement has not been upgraded to the previous version (Xbox360 and etc)
    - The increase in characters and the intersection of the storyline has not helped to enjoy the game

It is the biggest installment in the series and the most polarizing. This was easily Capcom's most hated sequel alongside "Devil May Cry 2". The initial consensus was that RE had abandoned its horror roots and was now an action shooter and a bad one at that. The company would go on to slightly improve it with updates, but this is still a very divisive entry to this day. Featuring four campaigns and five difficulty levels, it's a 25+ hour experience with plenty of nosedives throughout the adventure. In an apparent decision to stay relevant, the game's designers borrowed ideas from many other popular action titles. As a result, the game suffers from the "everything but the kitchen sink" approach.

Action fans will see the influences of "Gears of War", "Metal Gear Solid", "Uncharted" and even "Battlefield". There are plenty of sections that are a slog to play through. However, the game was made for cooperative play which makes the ride slightly more fun than going solo. The best campaign easily belongs to Leon, followed by Ada's. Chris Redfield's levels are a mix of good and bad, while Jake Muller's chapters can be rather bland. As stated before, Capcom wanted RE6 to be everything to everybody and it ends up just being a hot mess. Yet, I do love how every campaign intersects at one point and the story is somewhat entertaining.

Graphically, "Resident Evil 6" looks great on the Xbox One. This is the best looking title of the three HD re-releases. It also includes every multiplayer mode, mercenaries map and alternative costume ever made. Considering the base game was already packed to the gills with content, this version is a steal at only $20. And while RE6 is constantly ranked at the bottom of "Resident Evil" lists, it does provide a decent amount of fun. If you've never played it before, then this Xbox One port is the edition you'd want to get. I'd rank it with a 6.5 out of 10.

This game is so bad we refer to it as 'the game that shall not be named'.

We love the Resident Evil series. Even Resident Evil 5 which we still play today (just make sure you have a partner as the AI sucks, and recognize it's more of an action game and cheesy).

This is the only one we've ever found legitimately a bad game and it is TERRIBLE.

It's really hard to think of anything to compliment about this game. The atmosphere? Bad. The plot? Even discarded scraps from a good writer would be better. The character design? Depressing. The new characters? Boring. The bosses? Don't remember a single one.

I have no idea why it gets any positive reviews at all. I'm going to assume is because it has a full set of the most popular characters. Chris, Leon and Ava are extremely popular (for good reason) and having all in one game was what sold it to us in the first place. Or maybe it's because there are different genres for each campaign so one of them is likely to be what you were looking for.

Not only are the additions bad, but the broken storylines are worse. It's glitchy af and not co-op friendly. On Ava's campaign, the co-op partner is a faceless creation who can't even open doors. Yes, you heard that right. You can't interact with the environment.

It's been a long time since I played this game. It's still my least favorite game.
