A Minnesota attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for two weeks. It's unlikely the complex will come after you; they will likely come after your friend. It might be seen as much a personal decision involving a friendship as it is a legal one - taking into consideration... Read more »

I was walking downtown to get food with my friends a few hours after Minneapolis sent out an amber alert (on iPhones) warning people that there was a curfew set. Q: My son received a ticket on 8/16 in Isanti County. The ticket is still not found today 9/18 in the system.

It was for speeding and he didn’t have proof of insurance. I have looked it up online and called the number on the ticket. How long do they have to submit this information?

William Bailey
William Bailey answered on Sep 18, 2020

The general statute of limitations is quite long. I’ve seen it take much longer than this for a ticket to get uploaded as officers are not always the most reliable. A lawyer could look into this with the police and courts and find out what is happening.

They can continue to try you until a jury finds you guilty or not guilty. Doing so is not malicious prosecution. Malicious prosecution is difficult to prove. Worry about finding a way to win your trial.
