The University Archives, a unit of the Archives & Special Collections within the University of Pittsburgh Library System, collects, preserves, and makes accessible the papers, records, photographs, and media that document the history and mission of the University of Pittsburgh, from its founding as the Pittsburgh Academy in 1787, through its re-chartering as the Western University of Pennsylvania, to the present. This web archive includes web sites in the pitt.edu domain, as well as external sites documenting activities of the Pitt community.
