Q: I was persuaded to put furniture in my name for somebody who said they would pay for it but they didn’t

They furniture place won’t go get the furniture instead they sent the account to their legal team what can I do

Brent T. Geers
Brent T. Geers answered on Oct 8, 2021

Not much you can do except either 1) get the furniture back yourself and return it to the store, or 2) pay the bill. It's your name on the dotted line; your problem now.

When you signed for it, the store is holding you responsible for it. They don't care about who the furniture is...

Q: I been staying in this house for 10 years now the mortgage company trying to come take it back

My mother in law gave it to me and my wife I remodel the house etc all she said is that she was in bankruptcy and all we had to do is pay taxes and which I did

Kenneth V Zichi
Kenneth V Zichi answered on Oct 7, 2021

"Bankruptcy" doesn't mean what you appear to think it does. If the house were indeed 'in bankruptcy' that wouldn't necessarily impact the mortgage. Without seeing ALL the paperwork it is impossible to say what is going on and how you may be impacted, but your... Read more »

Q: I have a house in Wayne County. My now ex wife is on the title. I need to get her off the title. Lived in for 2 yrs.

What are my options to get her name off the title. I don't want to sell the house. I can't make contact with her due to the claims she made. We can't meet in person it has to go through our family attorney for questions. What can I do to get her off the title hassle free.

You can go back to the court with the initial jurisdiction on the file, and petition the court to order that the subject property be refinanced or sold. If your ex - spouse won't cooperate after that, then they would be violating the court's order. Hope this helps.

Unlikely. I would assume someone else became the son's guardian while mother was in prison. Mother would need to convince the probate court that she is a proper guardian, which usually requires a showing that the current guardian is not doing something proper.

Q: My son got covid from a prison guard. He's not doing so good. They forced him to get shots. Prison not caring.

Prison doesn't seem to be taking covid serious. Son was just sent to prison within a week a prison guard gives my son covid. He's had a high fever and hasn't called anyone in 3 days. Can I do something about the negligence of this prison?

Brent T. Geers
Brent T. Geers answered on Oct 6, 2021

Hard to say based just on what is stated here. How would your son prove he got COVID from this guard? And even if he could show that, unless he can also show that the prison knew but did nothing about the guard's condition - perhaps by them violating their own COVID mitigation policies, I am... Brent T. Geers
Brent T. Geers answered on Oct 6, 2021

What is your question? It sounds like you got an implied consent violation. When the police suspect you of drunk driving, by virtue of you driving, you consent to a chemical test - which is usually a breath test administered at the jail or police station; not the one done on scene by the police,... He filed a motion to have his back child support expunged and we want to respond to that motion in court.

No. Unless you are a licensed Michigan attorney, you cannot represent anyone other than yourself in legal proceedings. You can assist your wife in hiring an attorney. Most counties have a legal assistance center that can provide assistance and service to her as well.

No, probably not. The laws don’t allow those who visit to have immigrant intent. The law presumes immigrant intent, so an applicant for a non-immigrant visa must overcome the presumption.

Otherwise, they can be denied and may possibly be charged with misrepresentation which is an...

I was making a right turn into the right lane of a divided highway, a car came out of the left lane and there was a collision. Brent T. Geers
Brent T. Geers answered on Oct 2, 2021

Not much. In Michigan, you would need to show a judge that it's actually contrary to the child's best interest not to have contact with you - a pretty tall order. A parent's decision - right, wrong, or otherwise - is presumed to be in the child's best interest.

Have you...
