Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to providing a portable and interactive user interface. A search request for content regarding a product or service is received from a client device of a user. In response to receiving the search request, an interactive user interface that includes a region for displaying the content regarding the product or service and an option to create a new interactive user interface is displayed. A selection of the option to create the new interactive user interface is received. In response to receiving the selection of the option, the client device of the user is redirected to a web page of a server to create the new interactive user interface. In some embodiments, the interactive user interface comprises an interactive storefront.

Abstract: A method of enhancing a user interface of a network-based publication system based on seasonality scores associated with items featured in listings posted on the network-based publication system is disclosed. Seasonality data is generated for each of the items. The generating of the seasonality data includes identifying a season corresponding to transaction data pertaining to each of the items and storing the seasonality data in conjunction with the transaction data in a database. The season pertains to a selected user action that is to result in a presentation of a user interface on a device of the user. Seasonality scores are calculated and associated with the items featured in a subset of the listings that are candidates for inclusion in the presentation of the user interface. Relevancy scores are adjusted for each of the candidates and are incorporated into a presentation of the listings in the user interface.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, multiple workspaces have access to modify values in a graph database. The graph database can comprise a collection of entity nodes, where each entity node is connected to an identifier node and one or more state nodes. An update to an entity node can be recorded by generating a new state node to store the update and connecting the new state node to the entity node. How each workspace views the database is based, at least in part, on which state nodes are associated with each workspace. The workspaces are independent of one another, and changes made to an entity node in one workspace do not affect how another workspace views the same entity node. By managing database data for each of the workspaces using the same graph database and recording changes in state nodes in an additive manner, the computational overhead is greatly reduced and simplified.

Abstract: In accordance with an example embodiment, large scale category classification based on sequence semantic embedding and parallel learning is described. In one example, one or more closest matches are identified by comparison between (i) a publication semantic vector that corresponds to at least part of the publication, the publication semantic vector based on a first machine-learned model that projects the at least part of the publication into a semantic vector space, and (ii) a plurality of category vectors corresponding to respective categories from a plurality of categories.

A system may receive, from a client device, a first call for module data associated with a set of webpage modules for presentation in a webpage. The first response may additionally include a token identifying the webpage. The server may additionally transmit, to the client device based on transmitting the first response, a second response including the token identifying the webpage and second module data associated with a second subset of the set of webpage modules that differs from the first subset of the set of webpage modules.

Abstract: Various embodiments described herein utilize multiple levels of generative adversarial networks (GANs) to facilitate generation of digital images based on user-provided images. Some embodiments comprise a first generative adversarial network (GAN) and a second GAN coupled to the first GAN, where the first GAN includes an image generator and at least two discriminators, and the second GAN includes an image generator and at least one discriminator. According to some embodiments, the (first) image generator of the first GAN is trained by processing a user-provided image using the first GAN. For some embodiments, the user-provided image and the first generated image, generated by processing the user-provided image using the first GAN, are combined to produce a combined image. For some embodiments, the (second) image generator of the second GAN is trained by processing the combined image using the second GAN.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, text is received at an ecommerce service from a first user, the text in a first language and pertaining to a first listing on the ecommerce service. Contextual information about the first listing may be retrieved. The text may be translated to a second language. Then, a plurality of text objects, in the second language, similar to the translated text may be located in a database, each of the text objects corresponding to a listing. Then, the plurality of text objects similar to the translated text may be ranked based on a comparison of the contextual information about the first listing and contextual information stored in the database for the listings corresponding to the plurality of text objects similar to the translated text. At least one of the ranked plurality of text objects may then be translated to the first language.

Abstract: Example embodiments provide item notifications. A networked system receives, from a device of a user, a selection of an item from a list for monitoring. The network system also receives, from the device of the user, a condition that triggers the reporting of news for the selected item. The network system monitors for news for the selected item. A determination is made as to whether the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied. In response to determining that the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied, the networked system transmits a notification to the user indicating the news for the selected item.

Abstract: Images of items often include a significant amount of information that can be used in categorizing the item (e.g., as a book, a phone, or an accessory) or in identifying attributes of the item (e.g., the item's color or style). A user provides a search query for listings of items. Images of items in listings previously selected by users providing the same search query are analyzed to identify the category or attributes of the depicted items. The identified category or attributes are added to the user's search query. Listings matching the modified search query are provided to the user.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for simulating the fit of a particular garment on a user using a fit simulation garment. The fit simulation garment is wearable by a user and comprises a plurality of actuators configured to simulate tightness of regions of the particular garment. The method includes receiving a garment fit model defining the fit of the particular garment on the user. The method further includes parsing the garment fit model to generate control data for controlling the fit simulation garment, and transmitting the control data to the fit simulation garment to cause the plurality of actuators to collectively simulate the fit of the particular garment on the user.

Abstract: A system and method for conducting battery charge aware communications is disclosed. A system receives a content request from a client device, wherein the content request indicates one or more content items. The system retrieves the one or more requested content items from a content database at the system. The system determines whether the content request includes current remaining battery power data for the client device. In response to determining that the content request includes the current remaining battery power data for the client device, the system determines whether a current remaining battery power is below a predetermined threshold. In response to determining that the current remaining battery power is below the predetermined threshold, the system analyzes the one or more requested content items to determine core content sections. The system transmits the determined core content sections to the client device.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for dynamically generating user interface elements and associated values are presented. An item listing and profile data are accessed. A set of user interface elements are dynamically generated based on the item listing and the profile data, with each user interface element configured to perform an action on the item listing. A set of values are dynamically determined, with each value being associated with a user interface element of the set of user interface elements. The set of user interface elements are then caused to be presented within the item listing.

Additionally, with some embodiments, the service enables a user to conclude a purchase transaction for a product that is located at a retail store, and then provides the user with driving directions from the user's location to the retail store.

Abstract: Methods and systems to build and utilize a search infrastructure are described. The system generates, by a first indexing subsystem, full indexes of data and sends the full indexes to a plurality of query node servers via a distribution system. The system generates, mini-indexes associated with the full indexes and sends the mini-indexes to the plurality of query node servers. The system causes the plurality of query nodes to update indexing information based on the full indexes and the mini-indexes.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for providing query result items using an item title demand model are provided. A query is received at a search engine. Based on receiving the query, an item title demand engine is accessed. The item title demand engine operates based on an item title demand model which uses token weights, representing skip probabilities of tokens in item titles, to determine title scores for result item titles for corresponding queries. Based on accessing the item title demand engine, one or more result item titles for the query are identified from items in an item database. An identified result item title is identified based on a title score determined using the item title demand model and a highest skip probability of a token in the result item title. The one or more result item titles are communicated to cause display of the one or more result item titles.

Abstract: Systems and methods of improving the functioning of a streaming platform system by managing database change stream offsets using a time series database are disclosed. In some example embodiments, a computer system retrieves an offset value from a plurality of offset values stored in a time series database, with the plurality of offset values being indexed in the time series database in time order, and the retrieved offset value being retrieved using a time parameter, and then the computer system transmits a data request to a stream-processing platform, with the data request comprising the retrieved offset value, and the data request being operable to retrieve a data record stored in association with the retrieved offset value in a storage layer of the stream-processing platform using the offset value.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for accessing a plurality of inventory item listings accessible over a network, wherein each of the plurality of inventory item listings includes one or more text strings, and creating inventory word vectors for at least some of the text strings of the plurality of inventory item listings. The systems and methods further provide for receiving a user input including an input word, wherein the user input is input by a user to access a primary media content, creating an input word vector for the input word, calculating cosine similarities between the input word vector and the inventory word vectors, and analyzing the calculated cosine similarities to determine one or more keywords from the one or more text strings, wherein the one or more keywords are from the text strings having inventory word vectors with the highest cosine similarities to the input word vector.

Abstract: Techniques for locating and identifying mobile devices are described. According to various embodiments, an ambient sound signal may be detected using a microphone of a mobile device. Thereafter, it may be determined that the ambient sound signal corresponds to a predefined user query for assistance in locating the mobile device. A predefined response sound corresponding to the predefined user query may then be emitted, using a speaker of the mobile device. Additionally, user identification information may be displayed on a screen in response to detecting contact with the mobile device using at least one of an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

Abstract: For an input image of a person, a set of object proposals are generated in the form of bounding boxes. A pose detector identifies coordinates in the image corresponding to locations on the person's body, such as the waist, head, hands, and feet of the person. A convolutional neural network receives the portions of the input image defined by the bounding boxes and generates a feature vector for each image portion. The feature vectors are input to one or more support vector machine classifiers, which generate an output representing a probability of a match with an item. The distance between the bounding box and a joint associated with the item is used to modify the probability. The modified probabilities for the support vector machine are then compared with a threshold and each other to identify the item.

Abstract: Systems and methods to deliver dynamic context sensitive offers to intent user behavior are discussed. For example, a method to deliver a dynamic context sensitive oar can include operations for generating a dynamic offer, delivering the dynamic offer, receiving data associated with a user, updating a context input with data associated with the user, and adjusting the value of the dynamic offer. Generating the dynamic offer includes associating a rule for manipulating the value of the dynamic offer based on a context input. Updating the context input of the rule includes extracting context information from the data associated with the user. Adjusting the value of the dynamic offer can be based on reevaluation of the rule with the updated context input.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for data mesh-based environmental augmentation are presented. Attribute data associated with a user may be received from a plurality of attribute sources. A portion of the attribute data. may include real-time data. A portion of the real-time data indicative of an identity of the user may be identified. The identity of the user may be authenticated with respect to the real-time data by analyzing the identified portion of the real-time data. Based on the authentication of the identity of the user, a user activity being performed by the user may be identified based on the real-time data, and the user activity may be augmented according to a user setting.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for predicting a status of a transaction are described. Feature data related to one or more transactions is collected and a subset of features is selected for use in predicting the status of the transaction. A model is trained using the collected feature data that corresponds to the selected features, and the model is applied to feature data of a selected transaction to generate a probability of the selected transaction attaining one or more defined statuses. Mitigating or preventive actions are performed based on the generated probability.

Abstract: Deployment of a modified service affects the functioning of other services that make use of the service. To address the problems that deployment of modified executable code can cause in other services, a dependency lock is placed on candidate code to prevent deployment until tests on the client services are successfully completed. Developers of client services that rely on a supplier service are enabled to place a dependency lock on the service. As a result, deployment of the supplier service is only allowed when tests of the client services complete successfully. The administrator of the service being deployed may control which other users are able to add dependency locks without giving those users other permissions such as the ability to modify the source code of the service, the ability to deploy the service, and the like.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for automatic image selection for online product catalogs. An image selection system gathers feature data for images of an item included in listings posted to an online marketplace. The image selection system uses the feature data as input in a machine learning model to determine probability scores indicating an estimated probability that each image is suitable to represent the item. The machine learning model is trained based on a set of training images of the item that have been labeled to indicate whether they are suitable to represent the image. The image selection system compares the probability scores and selects an image to represent the item as a stock image based on the comparison.

Abstract: Automated determination of web page rendering performance techniques and systems are described. In one example, a web page including multiple user-interactive elements that can be selected or navigated via user input is received. A frame rendering system is employed to automatically identify the user-interactive elements and generate scripts to simulate user input at the user-interactive elements. The generated scripts are then used to simulate user input at the user-interactive elements. The scripts may be generated to simulate user interaction via a variety of different device types, and under a variety of different network conditions. During the simulation, a rendering performance score for the web page is generated by monitoring rendering performance relative to a threshold rendering rate.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for integration of a three-dimensional model is disclosed. In one example embodiment, a method includes receiving a plurality of images, selecting points on the images and triangulating the points to generate a plurality of depth maps, generate a three-dimensional mesh by combining the plurality of depth maps, generating a three-dimensional model of the item by projecting the plurality of images onto the mesh using the points, calibrating colors used in the model using colors diffuse properties of the colors in the images, and providing a user interface allowing a user to select one or more user points on the three-dimensional model and provide additional information associated with the selected user points.

The one or more tokens correspond to one or more terms that the query shares context similarity to based on a history of user selections. One or more search result candidates are scored based at least on the context similarity between the one or more tokens and the query.

Abstract: Aspect pre-selection techniques using machine learning are described. In one example, an artificial assistant system is configured to implement a chat bot. A user then engages in a first natural-language conversation. As part of this first natural-language conversation, a communication is generated by the chat bot to prompt the user to specify an aspect of a category that is a subject of a first natural-language conversation and user data is received in response. Data that describes this first natural-language conversation is used to train a model using machine learning. Data, is then be received by the chat bot as part of a second natural-language conversation. This data, from the second natural-language conversation, is processed using the model as part of machine learning to generate the second search query to include the aspect of the category automatically and without user intervention.

Abstract: Example embodiments provide a multi-currency cart and checkout. In example embodiments, a currency accepted and a payment option for each item in a multi-currency cart is identified. A plurality of currency groups is generated based on the currency and payment options, whereby each currency group comprises one or more items having a same payment option and accepting a same currency. A multi-currency checkout user interface (UI) is presented on a client device that presents the plurality of currency groups and a pay selector for each of the plurality of the currency groups. An updated multi-currency checkout UI is presented in response to processing payment for a selected one of the plurality of currency groups. The updated multi-currency UI comprises a confirmation for payment for the selected one of the plurality of currency groups and remaining currency groups of the plurality of currency groups.

Abstract: Computer vision for unsuccessful queries and iterative search is described. The described system leverages visual search techniques by determining visual characteristics of objects depicted in images and describing them, e.g., using feature vectors. In some aspects, these visual characteristics are determined for search queries that are identified as not being successful. Aggregated information describing visual characteristics of images of unsuccessful search queries is used to determine common visual characteristics and objects depicted in those images. This information can be used to inform other users about unmet needs of searching users. In some aspects, these visual characteristics are used in connection with iterative image searches where users select an initial query image and then the search results are iteratively refined.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for generating a unified user profile. For example, a system may store, on a client device, a token under a first domain name. The token may specify state data for a communication session between the client device and a first content publisher addressed by the first domain name. The communication session utilizes a stateless communication protocol. The system may then generate a redirection resource locator. The redirection resource locator may include an identifier for a web object belonging to a second content publisher addressed by a second domain name and the token. The system then stores, on the client device, the token under the second domain name by directing the client device to send a web object request generated based at least in part on the redirection resource locator to the second content publisher. The web object request may request the web object from the second content publisher and including the token.

Abstract: Model placement metadata is defined and stored for a three-dimensional (“3D”) model. The model placement metadata specifies constraints on the presentation of the 3D model when rendered in a view of a real-world environment, such as a view of a real-world environment generated by wearable computing device like an augmented reality (“AR”) or virtual reality (“VR”) device. A wearable computing device can analyze the geometry of a real-world environment to determine a configuration for the 3D model that satisfies the constraints set forth by the model placement metadata when the 3D model is rendered in a view of the environment. Once the configuration for the 3D model has been computed, the wearable device can render the 3D model according to the displayed configuration and display the rendering in a view of the real-world environment.

Abstract: Example embodiments that analyze images to characterize aspects of the images rely on a same neural network to characterize multiple aspects in parallel. Because additional neural networks are not required for additional aspects, such an approach scales with increased aspects.

Abstract: There is provided a method and system for qualification testing in a social network service. Qualification testing provides access control into a social network, wherein qualification is based on answers to questions related to a topic. In one example, members admitted to the network provide guidance, notes and research assistance to another member. The social network members access the social network from an external networked computing service, such as another social network, to facilitate easy connection to potential members. The social network may be implemented as an application overlay to the external service, or may access connections in the external network.

Abstract: An augmented reality or virtual reality (AR/VR) device pairs with a companion device to augment input interfaces associated with an AR/VR application at the AR/VR device. In implementations, an AR/VR device determines a portion of a markup file that corresponds to an AR/VR scene of a plurality of AR/VR scenes in an AR/VR environment, and communicates the portion of the markup file to the companion device to cause the companion device to configure a companion user interface associated with initiating an action as part of the AR/VR scene. In response to receiving user input via the companion user interface, the companion device communicates the action to the AR/VR device to initiate the action. The AR/VR device receives input data from the companion device, and initiates the action for the AR/VR scene.

Abstract: A system and method for sharing information on a network-based social platform is provided. An indication is received from a first user to share information regarding an item on a network-based social platform. The network-based social platform is a platform that allows the first user to communicative couple with other users of the network-based social platform. Profile information of the first user is accessed. A determination of whether the first user is authorized to share the information is made. Based on the first user being authorized, an identifier for the item is added to a list of recommended items that is accessible view the network-based social platform.

Abstract: Augmented reality, computer vision, and digital ticketing system techniques are described that employ a location determination system. In one example, the location determination system is configured to receiving at least one digital image as part of a live camera feed, identify an object included in the at least one digital image using object recognition, determine a location of the object in relation to a digital map of a physical environment, generate augmented reality digital content indicating the determined location in relation to the digital map, and render the augmented reality digital content as part of the live camera feed for display by a display device.

In one or more implementations, a document comprising nested content is displayed on a display of a computing device. A disabled link service monitors an address associated with the third-party source of the nested content to detect an address change corresponding to a user selection of one of the disabled inner links within the nested content. Responsive to detecting the address change, a respective target portion of the nested content associated with the selected inner link is located by scanning the nested content. The document is then scrolled to cause display of the target portion of the nested content on the display of the computing device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for standardizing delivery of products in an online marketplace using one or more locker systems. In some embodiments, a system of lockers is presented. The locker system may be configured to store one or more products sold in an online marketplace. The locker system may also include a processor coupled to the one or more lockers and configured to generate access code information for a buyer to enable access to a locker storing the product. One or more sensors may be coupled to the one or more lockers and configured to examine the product for a level of product quality. A transmitter of the system may be configured to transmit the access code information to the buyer. The system can later accept the access code information inputted from the buyer and open the locker storing the product after receiving the access code information.

Abstract: A system server includes a database of two-dimensional images and a processor coupled to a hardware memory with instructions that in response to execution by the processor direct performance of operations. The operations include generating a digital model from the images in the database and communicating a first portion of the digital model as an enhanced view to a user device. The first portion corresponds to a first line of sight orientation of the user device as measured by an orientation sensor. The operations include receiving a signal based on sensor data measured by the orientation sensor. The signal indicates movement of the user device from the first line of sight orientation to a second line of sight orientation. In response, the method includes communicating a second portion of the digital model to the user device that corresponds to the second line of sight orientation of the user device.

Abstract: A method and system of generating a listing in a network-based commerce system is provided. The method includes receiving listing identification data from a user, and retrieving listing data associated with the listing based on the listing identification data. Thereafter, a listing is generated that is at least partially based on the listing data and posted on the network-based commerce system. In one embodiment, the user may edit the listing data prior to posting the listing. The network-based commerce system may include a database of listing data associated with at least one of movies, music, games, books and motor vehicles.
