  • Publication number: 20220150548
Abstract: In a method to improve the coding efficiency of high-dynamic range (HDR) images, a decoder parses sequence processing set (SPS) data from an input coded bitstream to detect that an HDR extension syntax structure is present in the parsed SPS data. It extracts from the HDR extension syntax structure post-processing information that includes one or more of a color space enabled flag, a color enhancement enabled flag, an adaptive reshaping enabled flag, a dynamic range conversion flag, a color correction enabled flag, or an SDR viewable flag. It decodes the input bitstream to generate a preliminary output decoded signal, and generates a second output signal based on the preliminary output signal and the post-processing information.

  • Patent number: 11330309
Abstract: First foviated images are streamed to a streaming client. The first foviated images with first image metadata sets are used to generate first display mapped images for rendering to a viewer at first time points. View direction data is collected and used to determine a second view direction of the viewer at a second time point. A second foviated image and a second image metadata set are generated from a second HDR source image in reference to the second view direction of the viewer and used to generate a second display mapped image for rendering to the viewer at the second time point. The second image metadata set comprises a display management metadata portions for adapting a focal-vision and peripheral-vision image portions to corresponding image portions in the second display mapped image. The focal-vision display management metadata portion is generated with a predicted light adaptation level of the viewer for the second time point.

  • Patent number: 11322165
Abstract: When compressing an HOA data frame representation, a gain control (15, 151) is applied for each channel signal before it is perceptually encoded (16). The gain values are transferred in a differential manner as side information. However, for starting decoding of such streamed compressed HOA data frame representation absolute gain values are required, which should be coded with a minimum number of bits. For determining such lowest integer number (?e) of bits the HOA data frame representation (C(k)) is rendered in spatial domain to virtual loudspeaker signals lying on a unit sphere, followed by normalisation of the HOA data frame representation (C(k)). Then the lowest integer number of bits is set to ?e=?log2(?log2(?{square root over (KMAX)}·O)?+1)?.

  • Patent number: 11322170
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products of automatic de-essing are disclosed. An automatic de-esser can be used without manually setting parameters and can perform reliable sibilance detection and reduction regardless of absolute signal level, singer gender and other extraneous factors. An audio processing device divides input audio signals into buffers each containing a number of samples, the buffers overlapping one another. The audio processing device transforms each buffer from the time domain into the frequency domain and implements de-essing as a multi-band compressor that only acts on a designated sibilance band. The audio processing device determines an amount of attenuation in the sibilance band based on comparison of energy level in sibilance band of a buffer to broadband energy level in a previous buffer. The amount of attenuation is also determined based on a zero-crossing rate, as well as a slope and onset of a compression curve.

Abstract: Encoding/decoding an audio signal having one or more audio components, wherein each audio component is associated with a spatial location. A first audio signal presentation (z) of the audio components, a first set of transform parameters (w(f)), and signal level data (?2) are encoded and transmitted to the decoder. The decoder uses the first set of transform parameters (w(f)) to form a reconstructed simulation input signal intended for an acoustic environment simulation, and applies a signal level modification (?) to the reconstructed simulation input signal. The signal level modification is based on the signal level data (?2) and data (p2) related to the acoustic environment simulation. The sampled data may be quincunx sampled multi-image video data (e.g., 3D video or a multi-program stream), and the data may also be divided into sub-images of each image which are then multiplexed, or interleaved, in frames of a video stream to be encoded and then decoded using a standardized video encoder. A system for viewing may utilize a standard video decoder and a formatting device that de-interleaves the decoded sub-images of each frame reformats the images for a display device. A 3D video may be encoded using a most advantageous interleaving format such that a preferred quality and compression ratio is reached. In one embodiment, the invention includes a display device that accepts data in multiple formats.

Abstract: There are two representations for Higher Order Ambisonics denoted HOA: spatial domain and coefficient domain. The invention generates from a coefficient domain representation a mixed spatial/coefficient domain representation, wherein the number of said HOA signals can be variable. An aspect of the invention further relates to methods and apparatus decoding multiplexed and perceptually encoded HOA signals, including transforming a vector of PCM encoded spatial domain signals of the HOA representation to a corresponding vector of coefficient domain signals by multiplying the vector of PCM encoded spatial domain signals with a transform matrix and de-normalizing the vector of PCM encoded and normalized coefficient domain signals, wherein said de-normalizing comprises.

Abstract: The invention relates to methods and apparatus for adjusting a level of an audio signal. An audio signal is divided into a plurality of frequency bands. Modification parameters are obtained for at least one of the plurality of frequency band. Gain factors are derived for at least one of the plurality of frequency bands, the gain factors determined based on the amplitude scale factors. The gain factors are smoothed. A level of noise from noise compensation factors is determined. The gain factors are applied to at least one of the frequency bands to generate gain adjusted frequency bands. The level of noise is adjusted based on the gain adjusted frequency bands. At least one of the frequency bands is filtered with a filter generated with the filter coefficients. The plurality of frequency bands is synthesized to generate an output audio signal.

Abstract: There is provided methods and apparatuses for decoding and encoding of audio signals. In particular, a method for decoding includes receiving a waveform-coded signal having a spectral content corresponding to a subset of the frequency range above a cross-over frequency. The waveform-coded signal is interleaved with a parametric high frequency reconstruction of the audio signal above the cross-over frequency. In this way an improved reconstruction of the high frequency bands of the audio signal is achieved.

An audio processing system receives audio panning data including a first grid mapping first virtual sound sources in a space and speaker positions to speaker gains. The first grid specifies first speaker gains of the first virtual sound sources in the space. Abstract: Systems and methods for providing forward error correction for a multi-channel audio signal are described. Blocks of an audio stream are buffered into a frame. A transformation can be applied that compacts the energy of each block into a plurality of transformed channels. The energy compaction transform may compact the most energy of a block into the first transformed channel and to compact decreasing amounts of energy into each subsequent transformed channel. The transformed frame may be encoded using any suitable codec and transmitted in a packet over a network. Improved forward error correction may be provided by attaching a low bit rate encoding of the first transformed channel to a subsequent packet. To reconstruct a lost packet, the low bit rate encoding of the first channel for the lost packet may be combined with a packet loss concealment version of the other channels, constructed from a previously-received packet.

Abstract: Laser or narrow band light sources (e.g., red, green, and blue) are utilized to form left (e.g., R1, G1, B1) and right (e.g., R2, G2, B2) images of a 3D projection. Off-axis viewing of the projections which has the potential to cause crosstalk and/or loss of energy/brightness in any channel or color, is eliminated (or reduced to only highly oblique viewing angles) via the combined use of any of guard bands between light bands of adjacent channels, curvature of viewing filters, and selection of passband wavelengths that maximize usability of the passband as it “shifts” due to varying or increasing angles of off-axis viewing. Implemented with any number of light sources, the light sources selected may also be converted to showing 2D images where the additional light sources are utilized to affect a desirable increase in color gamut.
