Abstract: Methods and systems for enabling multi-merchant coupon campaigns within an online publication system are described. In an example, a method can include generating an item listing, receiving information specifying a set of coupon criteria, detecting an event within a multi-merchant publication system, and present a coupon in response to detecting the event. The generating an item listing can be based on information received from a merchant-computer. If the set of coupon criteria is detected it can result in presenting a coupon for the item listing. The event can satisfy a particular coupon criteria from the set of coupon criteria.

Abstract: A method for displaying content displayed on one or more first devices on a second device is provided. The method includes receiving a request to display content currently displayed on a first device on a second device, the request including a gesture made on a screen of the first device, and pairing the first device to the second device. The method further includes transmitting instructions to the second device to display the content currently displayed on the first device, and transmitting the content currently displayed on the first device to the second device for display thereon.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for proactively re-routing vehicles based on an analysis of input component data obtained from the navigation-enabled devices. The navigation system scores the input component data to obtain a measure of frustration (e.g., a feeling of being upset or annoyed) of the user of the navigation-enabled device. The navigation system may provide a detour suggestion for display on the navigation-enabled device to persuade the user of the device to direct their vehicle to depart from its current location or route in an effort to remove the vehicle from traffic, and thereby reduce the frustration level of the user. The detour suggestion may include an alternative route to the original destination, or an alternative destination.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for providing personalized content sharing service is presented. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include receiving a request to share a content item with a member of the social network. The method may further include determining an interest of the member of the social network based on social data about the member of the social network. A customized posting to share the content item with the member of the social network is then generated using the interest of the user.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for modifying images are presented. The system receives a user interface selection initiating an image capture and detects a first image capture parameter. The system identifies an object of interest within a field of view of an image capture device and identifies a set of object characteristics of the object of interest. The system generates a parameter notification indicating a suggested modification of the first image capture parameter based on one or more object characteristics of the set of object characteristics. The system causes presentation of the parameter notification at the image capture device.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve an apparatus, systems, and methods for providing intelligent laundering alerts. Example embodiments involve an intelligent garment tag that may be affixed to garments, and may store and provide information about the garment to which it is affixed. The information stored thereon describes various aspects of the garment including color, fabric, and laundering information. The intelligent garment tags further include an alert component for providing laundering alerts (e.g., a flashing or colored light, a warning noise, or a vibration) based on, for example, garment color compatibility or laundering device (e.g., washing machine or clothes dryer) compatibility.

Abstract: Example embodiments that analyze images to characterize aspects of the images rely on a same neural network to characterize multiple aspects in parallel. Because additional neural networks are not required for additional aspects, such an approach scales with increased aspects.

Abstract: Example methods and systems are directed to providing multi-dimensional search results. A source (e.g., a closed captioning stream) may provide a series of keywords. The series of keywords may be used to generate a series of searches. The results from the searches may be presented as part of a user interface in a grid. For example, one row may be presented for each keyword, with the row for the keyword containing the results from searching using that keyword. Alternatively, one column may be presented for each keyword, with the column for the keyword containing the results from searching using that keyword. The series of keywords may be generated once. Alternatively, new keywords may be periodically added to the series of keywords, causing the grid to be updated. Old keywords and their corresponding search results may periodically be removed from the grid.

Abstract: A computed-implemented method and system for recommending business applications on a network-based marketplace are described. A user's listings, representing items for sale on the marketplace, are harvested to calculate segmentation data and metrics that form a user profile. The user profile is compared with other similar users who have subscribed to various applications, and the impact those applications have had on the metrics of the similar users is calculated in order to determine what impact the applications will have on the user in question. The impact, combined with user preferences, is used to suggest appropriate applications, which are displayed to the user within the marketplace. If the user selects one of the applications, the application is added to the user's profile and relevant listings are updated with the new application.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for creating advertisement messages using generative grammar models is presented. A generative grammar model defining a message structure of requested message is accessed. The message structure includes a plurality of lexical slots. The generative grammar model includes a corpus of source data to populate each lexical slot in the plurality of lexical slots to generate an advertisement message for a product listing. An advertisement message is generated in accordance with the generative grammar model and the message is published. The advertisement message for the product listing is then transmitted to a client device.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for matching a user profile on an online platform to a user record of a network-based content publisher. A user profile from which an entry published to an online platform originated is identified. The entry includes a reference to content hosted by a network-based content publisher. The user profile is matched with a user record maintained by the network-based content publisher based on information embedded in the reference to the content that is included in the entry published to the online platform. Data from the user profile is utilized to provide personalization services to a user associated with the user record.

Abstract: A system and method for using time to reach determinations to improve the usability of geo-fences is disclosed. A computer system accesses a current location of a client system and identifies one or more nearby geo-fences. The computer system then calculates the time to reach each of these geo-fences. If the calculated time to reach value for a particular geo-fence is within the notification range associated with that geo-fence, then the computer system generates a notification to display to a user.

Abstract: Techniques for prefetching operation cost based digital content and digital content with emphasis that overcome the challenges of conventional systems are described. In one example, a computing device may receive digital content representations of digital content from a service provider system, which are displayed on a user interface of the computing device. Thereafter, the computing device may also receive digital content as prefetches having a changed display characteristic as emphasizing a portion of the digital content based on a model trained using machine learning. Alternatively, the computing device may receive digital content as a prefetch based on a model trained using machine learning in which the model addresses a likelihood of conversion of a good or service and an operation cost of providing the digital content. Upon receiving a user input selecting one of the digital content representations, digital content is rendered in the user interface of the computing device.

Abstract: Various implementations described herein are able to leverage the interaction from one or more potential buyers relative to a digital image to automatically create a sales listing for items that appear to be of interest to the buyers. This reduces or eliminates all together the manual effort previously required of sellers in researching and collecting data on each item they wish to sell. Because of their technical nature, the innovative solutions described herein are also readily scalable which, in turn, greatly improves the seller's experience. Based on buyer interaction experiences, sales listings for each item for sale can be automatically created and listed.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for transferring data are described. A list of recipients of the data is obtained and one or more paths to each recipient of the data is determined. An overall transfer cost of each path is computed and one or more transfer paths for each recipient are selected based on a corresponding overall transfer cost. Then a packet of data is transferred to a client device associated with each transfer path.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and computer-implemented methods for providing suggestions of additional input to users entering user input into a data input field. In some embodiments, the method includes receiving initial user input entered via a data input field of a user interface rendered on a client device, and identifying a dominant category corresponding to the initial user input. The method further includes identifying a set of aspects corresponding to the dominant category, and selecting, from the set of aspects, a set of aspect suggestions based on a ranking of each aspect in the set of aspects. The listing performance data and value are provided for presentation.

Abstract: Feeds in a network-based marketplace are described. The system receives a request, over a network, from a user that is associated with feed selection information, and identifies source feeds based on the feed selection information. The source feeds respectively include a first plurality of content elements. The system generates a presentation feed by retrieving a second plurality of content elements from the source feeds. The generating is performed continuously and in real-time. The system segments the presentation feed into pages and generates interfaces that include a first interface based on the pages. The system communicates the first interface, over the network, to the user, responsive to the receiving of the request.

Abstract: Systems and methods for passive dynamic geofencing on a mobile device are discussed. For example, a method for passive dynamic geofencing can include operations such as monitoring a first parent geofence and a first plurality of child geofences; detecting crossing a boundary of the first parent geofence into a second parent geofence; loading the second parent geofence and a second plurality of child geofences encompassed by the second parent geofence; and monitoring the second parent geofence and the second plurality of child geofences.

Abstract: Techniques for locating and identifying mobile devices are described. According to various embodiments, an ambient sound signal may be detected using a microphone of a mobile device. Thereafter, it may be determined that the ambient sound signal corresponds to a predefined user query for assistance in locating the mobile device. A predefined response sound corresponding to the predefined user query may then be emitted, using a speaker of the mobile device. Additionally, user identification information may be displayed on a screen in response to detecting contact with the mobile device using at least one of an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for determining a spam publication using a spam detection system are presented. The spam detection system receives, from a device, an image of an item and an item attribute for the item. Additionally, the spam detection system extracts an image attribute based on the received image, and compares the item attribute and the image attribute. Moreover, the spam detection system calculates a confidence score based on the comparison. Furthermore, the spam detection system determines that the item attribute is incorrect based on the confidence score transgressing a predetermined threshold. In response to the determination that the item attribute is incorrect, the spam detection system causes presentation, on a display of the device, of a notification.

Abstract: Systems and methods to identify a filter set in a keyword query are described. The system receives a query from a client machine. The system identifies filter sets based on the query and a based on rules. The filter sets include a first filter set that includes a first filter. The rules are utilized to associate at the least one keyword from the query to the first filter. The system further scores the filter sets based on probabilities to generate scores. The probabilities describe occurrences of attribute-value pairs in listings that respectively describe items that were previously transacted on a network-based marketplace. The system further identifies the first filter set from the filter sets based on the scores, generates a user interface including search results that are identified based on the identified first filter set, and communicates the user interface, over the network, to the client machine.

Abstract: Dynamic link preview generation techniques are described that overcome the challenges of conventional techniques by supporting link preview generation by a content provider system that proves the digital content via a respective network address. In one example, a content provider system, based on a request received from a service provider system, identifies a communication platform of the service provider system that is to be used to communicate the shared link. Upon identifying the communication platform, the content provider system locates customization data that describes how the link preview is to be generated for the communication platform. In response, the content provider system renders digital content available via the network address to generate the link preview.

Abstract: Automatic generation of individual item listings from a bulk listing is described. Bulk listing data associated with a bulk listing is obtained from a storage device associated with a listing system. The bulk listing data is processed to extract individual item information for individual items of the bulk listing. A plurality of individual item listings for the individual items of the bulk listing are automatically generated by populating the individual item listings with the respective individual item information extracted from the bulk listing data. In one or more implementations, relisting predictions for the individual items of the bulk listing are automatically generated and displayed in a graphical user interface.

Abstract: Example embodiments of a system and method for image-based listing of an item, using an image of multiple items, are generally described herein. In further embodiments, the authentication process is further selected based on a comparison of an access characteristic associated with the access attempt for the computing asset and an access characteristic for a user associated with the access attempt.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, devices, systems, and methods for a waist measuring belt are provided. An example waist measuring belt is made up of a belt buckle frame with attachments for a belt strap. The belt further includes a position measuring module coupled to the belt buckle frame that measures an attachment position of a second end of the belt strap to the belt buckle frame. The belt also includes a tension measuring module coupled to the belt buckle frame that measures a tension through the belt buckle frame and the belt strap. A memory and a wireless communication module attached to the belt may be used to store measurements and communicate with a mobile device or server. In various embodiments, estimated user waist sizes over time using measured values and belt-specific data may be used to estimate a user's waist size and generate a waist size history.

A query that includes visual data is received by the system from a client device. A visual aspect indicated in the visual data is analyzed. One or more symbols that correspond to the analyzed visual aspect is generated by the system. The analyzed visual aspect is projected into a vector space using the one or more symbols. A group of projections are identified, the group of projections being within a predetermined distance from the projected visual aspect in the vector space. An interface that depicts the further visual aspects is generated. The interface is displayed on the client device.

Abstract: Disclosed is technology for storing original work data on a derivative work data blockchain along with code for verifying that derivative work data is derivative of the original work data. The technology involves receiving derivative work data from a submitting entity along with proof data showing that the derivative work is derivative of the original work. If the derivative work data is verified as derivative, then the derivative work data is appended to the derivative work data blockchain.

Abstract: Systems and methods for are provided for predicting impending failure of a database and preemptively initiating mitigating failover actions, for example by shedding connections or redirecting connection requests to an alternate database that can fulfill resources being requested. In an example embodiment, to detect a slow or unstable database, connection wait times are monitored over a rolling window of time intervals, a quantity of intervals in which at least one excessive wait time event occurred are counted during the time window, and if the quantity exceeds a threshold, the database is deemed unavailable, thereby triggering connection adjustments.

Abstract: Software is increasingly being developed as a collection of loosely coupled applications. Loosely coupled applications exchange data by publishing data to and retrieving data from a data store, such as a database, a file located on a storage cluster, etc. Data produced by one application and consumed by another is referred to as a data dependency. In some embodiments, an application's data dependencies are identified by analyzing cached query plans associated with the application. Query plans include a hierarchical representation of a query, where non-leaf nodes represent commands and leaf nodes identify data dependencies. An application's data dependencies are identified by traversing the hierarchical representation of the query. Data dependencies consumed by the application are identified by finding leaf nodes that descend from a read command, while data dependencies produced by the application are identified by finding leaf nodes that descend from a write command.

Abstract: Gesture functionality is provided in a computing environment. In example embodiments, a gesture input is received. A style difference is identified between a known gesture input of a set of known gesture inputs and the received gesture input. The set of known gesture inputs is caused to be modified to include the style difference by updating a database that stores the set of known gesture inputs.

Abstract: Disclosed are a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, and a computer-implemented method for digital inventories. An application interface module receives a request message from a user device at a physical store location linked to an online marketplace. The request message indicates a request to determine availability of a target item at the physical store location. The user device is linked to a user. In response to the request message, a database management module accesses inventory data of the online marketplace. An inventory engine determines whether the target item is available at the physical store location. Based on a determination that the target item is not available at the target store, a graphics processing module generates a digital representation of the user and the target item for display within a user interface rendered on the user device.

Abstract: In an example embodiment, a selection of an image in a user interface is received. Then information about the image is received. Then a look is identified for the image, wherein the look is a category for the image based at least in part on one or more visual attributes of the image as shown in the image The identified look is then compared with one or more item listings stored in a database to identify one or more matching item listings, the one or more matching item listings containing associated images that correspond to the look. Finally, the one or more matching item listings are displayed in the user interface.

Abstract: A cloud-based service records time-series data of a plurality of metrics from a plurality of tenants. The time-series data comprises a series of measures of a metric at sequential points in time. The time-series data is recorded in database tables in a manner that consumes more resources when the cardinality of the time-series data is high. When the cardinality of the data for the tenant is too high, the tenant is blacklisted and further data for the tenant is not stored. In addition to identifying incoming time-series data by the tenant that produced it, the data may also identify its type. In this case, the cardinality of each type of data may be determined and the types of data may be individually allowed or blacklisted for the tenant.

Abstract: A system to process navigation information includes a receiving module to receive a data request from a network entity. The data request includes a network entity identifier that uniquely identifies the network entity. The system further includes an application to generate a network event based on the data request, the network event including the navigation information. A networked system receives, from a device of a user, a selection of an item from a list for monitoring. A determination is made as to whether the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied. In response to determining that the condition that triggers the reporting of the news is satisfied, the networked system transmits a notification to the user indicating the news for the selected item.

Abstract: Systems and methods for preemptive adjustments of connections in a server connection pool are provided. In example embodiments, a number of quality of service engines analyze server connection pool metrics data to generate instructions to increase or decrease the number of connections in a connection pool, preemptively, before shortages or surpluses of connections occur. Corrective engines can analyze performance of the quality of service engines and can, when necessary, instruct the quality of service engines to modify their prediction mechanisms.

Abstract: Systems and methods for centralized client application management are provided. In an example embodiment, device data is received from a user device. The user device is identified according to an identification rule. A client state is received from the user device. A match between the client state and a specified state is determined. Based on the client state matching the specified state, an instruction to be performed on the user device is generated. The instruction is caused to be performed on the user device. The instruction causes a change to the client state stored on the user device.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method to provide services associated with an image is disclosed. The method includes receiving image data of an item of interest from a client device. The image data is used to identify a similar item from an image catalog based on the image data of the item. Attribute information associated with the similar item is retrieved and used to pre-populate a template. The pre-populated template is sent to the client device, and modified data from the client device is received in response, with the modified data resulting in a final template. A listing based on the final template is generated.

Abstract: Selecting a first silhouette image of an item at a client machine displays a plurality of silhouette images representing aspects of the item such as style, length type and sleeve type. Selecting any of those aspects allows a server to search a database for listings of similar items that have those aspects. Concurrently selecting one or more of the images representing those aspects and one or more sizes, allows a server to search a database for listings of similar items that have those aspects and those sizes.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a multi-dimensional commerce platform that may be utilized for the communication of data. Aspects of the multi-dimensional commerce platform may include various functional components to facilitate a system to receive inventory data at a first server associated with the multi-dimensional commerce platform, provide a second server associated with a third-party (e.g., a third party seller/distributor) access to the inventory data, alter or modify the inventory data based on attributes of the second server, and cause display of a presentation of the modified inventory data at a client device.

Abstract: An augmented reality or virtual reality (AR/VR) device pairs with a companion device to augment input interfaces associated with an AR/VR application at the AR/VR device. In implementations, an AR/VR device determines a portion of a markup file that corresponds to an AR/VR scene of a plurality of AR/VR scenes in an AR/VR environment, and communicates the portion of the markup file to the companion device to cause the companion device to configure a companion user interface associated with initiating an action as part of the AR/VR scene. In response to receiving user input via the companion user interface, the companion device communicates the action to the AR/VR device to initiate the action. The AR/VR device receives input data from the companion device, and initiates the action for the AR/VR scene.

Abstract: Computer vision and image characteristic search is described. The described system leverages visual search techniques by determining visual characteristics of objects depicted in images and comparing the determined characteristics to visual characteristics of other images, e.g., to identify similar visual characteristics in the other images. In some aspects, the described system performs searches that leverage a digital image as part of a search query to locate digital content of interest. In some aspects, the described system surfaces multiple user interface instrumentalities that include images of patterns, textures, or materials and that are selectable to initiate a visual search of digital content having a similar pattern, texture, or material. The described aspects also include pattern-based authentication in which the system determines authenticity of an item in an image based on a similarity of its visual characteristics to visual characteristics of known authentic items.

Abstract: Example embodiments of the present disclosure include a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for provisioning follow up messages to individuals after an in-store retail shopping experience. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include identifying an item of interest to an individual while in a retail store. The method may further include detecting the individual leaving the retails store, and in response to the individual leaving the retail store, transmitting a message to a mobile device of the individual to remind the individual of the item of interest.

Abstract: Various embodiments described herein utilize multiple levels of generative adversarial networks (GANs) to facilitate generation of digital images based on user-provided images. Some embodiments comprise a first generative adversarial network (GAN) and a second GAN coupled to the first GAN, where the first GAN includes an image generator and at least two discriminators, and the second GAN includes an image generator and at least one discriminator. According to some embodiments, the (first) image generator of the first GAN is trained by processing a user-provided image using the first GAN. For some embodiments, the user-provided image and the first generated image, generated by processing the user-provided image using the first GAN, are combined to produce a combined image. For some embodiments, the (second) image generator of the second GAN is trained by processing the combined image using the second GAN.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a system comprising a machine-readable storage medium storing at least one program and computer-implemented methods for efficiently storing graph data. Consistent with some embodiments, the method includes using the graph data to construct a tree topology bitmap that represents a topology of a portion of the nodes in a tree data structure representing the graph data. The method further includes creating an archive bit array for the tree data structure that includes elements populated with a binary indicator of whether a corresponding leaf node includes a known entry. The method further includes creating a leaf values array comprising a known value for each leaf node in the tree data structure with a known entry. The method further includes storing, in a memory storage device, the tree topology, the archive bit array, and the leaf values array in association with an initial timestamp.
