I'm at a loss as to why DHS can't find abuse. Go ahead and take him in, and see an experienced family law attorney to file for legal guardianship. Good luck.
I currently live in Texas and have been helping my daughter with her (currently 4yo) son since he was born, even though she lived in Oklahoma. I even kept her son in Texas for 6 months while she got on her feet. After the 6 months, she took her son to Indiana where she had her father & other... Read more »

Grandmother is already taking care of 5 children & can’t take care of an infant. She wants to find a good family to give full custody to. Can she do this without parents signing anything also? G’mother is in Louisiana and new family would possibly be in MS

Because the child is a resident of Louisiana, Louisiana statues would govern; therefore, you should contact an attorney licensed in that state.
We are working on getting guardianship/ full custody of my nephew and would like to change his name but not sure how long it takes or how much it is.

answered on May 16, 2022
You can't change his name unless you adopt and terminate the parents' rights.
My nephews mom wanted an abortion but was unable to get one because she had just gotten one so she asked my husband and I to take the baby. We did and now we would like to get guardianship of the baby because mom is now refusing to babysit the child or help. She receives benefits and childcare for... Read more »

You need to contact a lawyer in your area to discuss your options and get the ball rolling. You should not do this yourself. In speaking to the attorney(s) you consult, you ask what are your options as well as what is your understanding as to the position each parent takes as to custody and/or... Read more »

Is there a father in the picture? If so, he will have priority over you if he is willing and able. If mom and baby are in New Jersey, than you all will need to deal with this there.
Help when he’s on school break, won’t communicate because “the new girlfriend doesn’t like it”, won’t check on the child’s well being, and the child comes home very hungry and once with a deep scratch on the pelvic area. the mothers boyfriend/father to mothers other child takes off... Read more »

Will it be difficult? It may not be, however more information is needed on this, including the involvement of your little brother's father who usually would have a say in custody decisions. That said, I highly recommend that you (and your grandmother) seek a consultation with a... Read more »

There is no monthly court ordered amount due. Court order only shows full total of arrears due. Can one pay bare minimum of $10 since it's not a court ordered monthly amount to pay and he's still paying? Current order was terminated due to child being adopted.

answered on Apr 29, 2022
The entire amount of arears is now due and owing. You can get a judgment and garnish wages/bank accounts. There is a limit on the wage garnishment percentage depending on whether the ex is supporting another family and how old the arrears are, but you can get around 50%+ of take home income. you... Will i have any say or pull to adopt her? Can the guardian say she's bonded to us?

A kinship caregiver can file for legal custody or adoption of a child. The difference is that parents can still have residual rights when a third party has legal custody but in the course of an adoption the parental rights are permanently terminated. The court will not necessarily grant a kinship... Read more »
