Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a navigation system and computer-implemented methods for proactively re-routing vehicles based on an analysis of input component data obtained from the navigation-enabled devices. The navigation system scores the input component data to obtain a measure of frustration (e.g., a feeling of being upset or annoyed) of the user of the navigation-enabled device. The navigation system may provide a detour suggestion for display on the navigation-enabled device to persuade the user of the device to direct their vehicle to depart from its current location or route in an effort to remove the vehicle from traffic, and thereby reduce the frustration level of the user. The detour suggestion may include an alternative route to the original destination, or an alternative destination.

Abstract: A browse node page is addressed by its path. As a result, a web crawler may be more likely to find the browse node than the corresponding parameter-based search page. The browse node may be further distinguished from a search result page by the use of a title or header metatag that indicates information about the browse node and distinguishes the browse node from a general search result page. The number of combinations of keywords, categories, and key-value pairs makes the creation of a browse node for every possible combination prohibitive in all but the simplest applications. Methods and systems to identify which search result pages should be converted to browse nodes are disclosed herein.

Abstract: Virtual environment arrangement and configuration techniques are described. In one example, virtualization techniques are employed to generate a virtual environment as implemented via a virtual reality platform by one or more computing devices. The virtual environment includes virtual stores arranged along virtual streets. Virtual digital content is included in the stores, such as to initiate conversion of a good or service represented by the content. Configuration of the virtual environment is based on user, provider, and/or machine learning inputs.

Abstract: Systems and methods for managing an in-person transaction process are provided. In example embodiments, a network system receives, from a first user device, information regarding a service or an item. Using the received information, the network system generates an unpublished listing and associates the unpublished listing with a session identifier. The unpublished listing is temporarily stored to a datastore. The network system then generates a scannable code that provides a uniform resource identifier (URI) associated with the session identifier. The scannable code is presented on the first user device, whereby the scannable code can be scanned by a second user device to access, via the URI, a transaction user interface associated with the session identifier. In response to a request to access the transaction user interface triggered by the second user device scanning the scannable code, the transaction user interface is displayed on the second user device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method of information presentation on multiple devices is provided. The method may include presenting a first barcode on a webpage. The first barcode may be encoded with first data based on a uniform resource locator of the webpage. The method may also include generating second data based on a user interaction with the webpage and altering a configuration of the webpage based on the user interaction without leaving the webpage. The method may also include generating a second barcode encoded with the first data and the second data. The method may further include presenting the second barcode on the webpage with the altered configuration.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for applying a quantitative range for qualitative terms. In one example, a method includes gathering user interactions, identifying a qualitative term included in the user interactions, building an electronic knowledge graph that associates the qualitative term with a quantitative range for the product identified using the qualitative term according to values in the user interactions that include the qualitative term, receiving a query for the product that includes the qualitative term, and performing, in response to receiving the query, a search that limits results according to the quantitative range stored in the knowledge graph.

Abstract: Technologies are disclosed herein for cross-correlating metrics for anomaly root cause detection. Primary and secondary metrics associated with an anomaly are cross-correlated by first using the derivative of an interpolant of data points of the primary metric to identify a time window for analysis. Impact scores for the secondary metrics can be then be generated by computing the standard deviation of a derivative of data points of the secondary metrics during the identified time window. The impact scores can be utilized to collect data relating to the secondary metrics most likely to have caused the anomaly. Remedial action can then be taken based upon the collected data in order to address the root cause of the anomaly.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for predicting a brand name of a product are disclosed herein. A product identification number for the product is converted into a normalized global trade item number (GTIN). For each of a plurality of GTIN prefixes corresponding to the normalized GTIN, brand names and counts of each of the brand names using product information stored in a product catalog are identified. A probability distribution of the brand names is determined in accordance with the brand names and the counts of the brand names for the plurality of the GTIN prefixes. A predicted brand name for the product is identified from among the brand names for the plurality of the GTIN prefixes, the predicted brand name having a highest probability score in the probability distribution of the brand names.

Abstract: Techniques for managing electronic user profiles are presented herein. An example method includes accessing, from a data structure, a user profile. The user profile can include a profile identifier and a plurality of data fields. The method also includes displaying, on a display device, an interactive user interface. The user interface can include a plurality of user interface action elements. Each of the user interface action elements can be associated with a data field in the data structure. Each of the user interface action elements can also be individually selectable by a respective user action to transmit the associated data field to a remote device. In response to receiving a selection of a user interface action element, the method can further include transmitting the associated data field and the profile identifier to a router configured to send, based on the profile identifier, the associated data field to the remote device.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method for contextual advertising and merchandizing based on user configurable preferences is disclosed. The system in an example embodiment includes an advertising (ad) preferences service to obtain user preference information related to advertising, enable user configuration of the user preference information related to advertising, and modify the presentation of advertising to the user based upon the user configured preference information.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for a geo-fenced zone of commerce are described. Consistent with some embodiments, the method may include subdividing a geographic area, generating corresponding geo-fences, and presenting the corresponding geo-fences as listings in a navigable online marketplace.

Abstract: Described are computing systems and methods configured to detect a small, but meaningful, anomaly within one or more metrics associated with a platform. The system displays visuals of the metrics so that a user monitoring the platform can effectively notice a problem associated with the anomaly and take appropriate action to remediate the problem. An operational visual includes a radar-based visual with a heatmap arranging metrics, and a node representing a state of the metrics. Moreover, the system uses an ensemble of unsupervised machine learning algorithms for multi-dimensional clustering of hundreds of thousands of monitored metrics. Via the visuals and the implementation of the machine learning algorithms, the described techniques provide an improved way of representing and simulating many metrics being monitored for a platform. Moreover, the techniques are configured to expose actionable and useful information associated with the platform in a manner that can be effectively interpreted.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for managing media bandwidth usage are disclosed. One disclosed method includes determining a network connection state of a computing device, receiving a request that requests media content, altering the request to request a synthetic representation of the media content instead of the media content in response to the network connection state being one of a set of predefined network connection states and the media content violating one or more restrictions of the network connection state, and requesting the media content in response to a user selecting the synthetic representation.

Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments for electronic commerce user interfaces. In some embodiments, a device is used to create an account on an electronic commerce system or create a listing for an item for sale on the ecommerce system. A first identifier of the device is stored by the ecommerce system. When a listing is generated by the account, an image representing an item for sale is included as part of the listing. The disclosed embodiments compare a second device identifier of a device used to capture the image with the first device identifier. If the two identifiers identify the same device, this provides an indication of confidence that the seller is in possession of the item represented by the image. This indication of confidence is then displayed when the listing is displayed to prospective buyers.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a network-based crowd assisted query system that includes a client device in communication with an application server executing the crowd assisted query system over a network. For example, the crowd assisted query system may be or include a group of one or more server machines. Users of the crowd assisted query system are presented with a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to receive queries that include data objects, wherein the data objects include representations of unidentified items of interest to the user. The data objects may include media content, such as graphical images as well as audio data, and in some example embodiments may further include text data describing the unidentified items.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving, via a mobile station, contextual information or geographic location data relating to a plurality of members of the population within the geographic region, identifying a common element in the received contextual information relating to at least two members of the population as a basis for defining a geofence to include the at least two members, wherein the common element is identified upon a comparison of the first and second contextual information, and defining the boundary of the geofence.

Abstract: Feeds in a network-based marketplace are described. The system receives a request, over a network, from a user that is associated with feed selection information, and identifies source feeds based on the feed selection information. The source feeds respectively include a first plurality of content elements. The system generates a presentation feed by retrieving a second plurality of content elements from the source feeds. The generating is performed continuously and in real-time. The system segments the presentation feed into pages and generates interfaces that include a first interface based on the pages. The system communicates the first interface, over the network, to the user, responsive to the receiving of the request.

Abstract: A method to facilitate invoicing for transactions established utilizing a network-based transaction system includes supporting establishment of transactions between a plurality of entities in the network-based transaction system, and identifying as part of an invoice generation process, a plurality of transactions to which a first entity is a party. The method further includes identifying first and second transactions from the plurality of transactions that satisfy combinable criteria, and generating an invoice for at least the first and second transactions that satisfy the combinable criteria. The method can also be implemented in a system and on a machine-readable medium.

Abstract: Technologies are shown for secure management of a data file secured on a data file management blockchain that involve generating a genesis block for a data file management blockchain that contains a data file to be managed and signing the genesis block to commit the genesis block to the data file management blockchain. One or more transaction data blocks are generated for the data file management blockchain that each include a modification to the data file and the blocks are signed to commit them to the blockchain. In some examples, the modifications describe changes to the data file and the transaction data blocks are traced to the genesis block and a current data file generated by applying the modifications on the transaction data blocks to the data file in a sequence determined by an order of the one or more transaction data blocks in the data file management blockchain.

Abstract: Based on an analysis of historical data of listings for an item, an online marketplace generates a price curve for the item to describe the likelihood to sell as a function of price. Based on seller preference data, an analysis of historical data of listings, or both, the online marketplace estimates the utility preferences for the seller account, such as the cost of time. Using the utility preferences and the price curve for an item, the online marketplace can generate a utility curve that estimates the utility for the seller account as a function of the item price. Using the utility curve, the online marketplace generates utility-based price guidance for a particular seller of the item. A user interface presents the utility-based price guidance to the seller and enables the seller to set the price of the item based on the price guidance.

Abstract: Product search results may be presented to a user via a map view, with merchants selling a selected product displayed on a map. A buy now button may be displayed for a merchant within the map view, allowing the user to execute a purchase transaction directly from the map view.

Abstract: Method and system to facilitate transactions in a particular on-line trading platform from a third party web site may be utilized beneficially to enhance a user's experience in purchasing items referenced on third party web pages. When a user encounters, on a third party web site, a presentation of an item that is linked to a listing maintained by the on-line trading platform, the user may simply click on the presentation of the item, which causes presentation of a visual control selectable to launch a transaction processing flow facilitated by the on-line trading platform, without requiring the user to leave the third party web site.

Abstract: Technologies are shown for shipping route selection involving receiving sender and recipient shipping information for an item to be shipped and obtaining shipping route options for the item based on the sender and recipient shipping information. The route options are provided for display and selection of an option. A routing data block is created for the item at an address on a blockchain that stores shipping information for each stage of the selected route. A shipping tag is encoded with the blockchain address and attached to the item. The tag can be scanned to obtain the blockchain address and request information for a next stage of the shipping route from the block. The next shipping information from the block is received and utilized to ship the item to a next geolocation. The next shipping information can be determined based on current conditions, such as weather, pricing and availability.

Abstract: Techniques for prefetching operation cost based digital content and digital content with emphasis that overcome the challenges of conventional systems are described. In one example, a computing device may receive digital content representations of digital content from a service provider system, which are displayed on a user interface of the computing device. Thereafter, the computing device may also receive digital content as prefetches having a changed display characteristic as emphasizing a portion of the digital content based on a model trained using machine learning. Alternatively, the computing device may receive digital content as a prefetch based on a model trained using machine learning in which the model addresses a likelihood of conversion of a good or service and an operation cost of providing the digital content. Upon receiving a user input selecting one of the digital content representations, digital content is rendered in the user interface of the computing device.

Abstract: A system and method for mirroring traffic data is described. A traffic proxy samples traffic data between a client device and a first web server. The traffic data comprises requests from the client device and corresponding responses from the first web server. The sampled traffic data is encoded and relayed to a second web server. The second web server comprises an updated version of a web service that is operating at the first web server. Responses from the first web server are compared with responses from the second web server based on the requests in the encoded sampled traffic data. The differences between the responses from the first web server and the second web server is stored.

Abstract: Digital image capture session and metadata association techniques are described. In one example, a user input is received to initiate an image capture session. At least one digital image is captured using a digital camera during the image capture session. Audio input data is also collected using an audio input device during the image capture session and is converted into text data, e.g., speech-to-text. Metadata is generated based on the text data and associated with the at least one digital image. The at least one digital image is output as having the associated metadata as completion of the image capture session.

Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, methods and apparatus are provided for flexible and user-friendly position editing of loaded media in a multi-media presentation. In one embodiment, a method for editing the position of loaded media comprises loading a page of a collage document to a client device, the page having a plurality of layers with each layer being associated with a media object, and creating a list of layers of the loaded page with each layer indexed by at least a position in the collage document. The method further includes selecting a first media object, selecting a position editing tool to group the first media object and at least one other media object adjacent to the first media object; and moving the grouped first media object and the at least one other media object to a different position in the collage document. A client device for position editing loaded media is also disclosed.

Abstract: Smart table devices determine aspects associated with individual and items at a table. Sensors associated with a table are used to determine a location of each individual from a group of individuals at the table. The sensors also determine the location of a first item on the table. The first item is automatically associated with a first individual from the group of individuals based on proximity of the location of the first item on the table to the location of the first individual at the table. It is also determined using the sensors that the first individual has consumed at least a portion of the first item.

Abstract: A method of setting a listing price for an item is disclosed. One or attributes of the item are determined based on data entered into fields of a listing user interface. One or more additional items are identified based on a comparison of one or more attributes of the one or more additional items with the one or more attributes of the item. Sales information associated with the one or more additional items is determined. A range of suggested prices and at least some of the sales information is incorporated into a selection user interface region of the listing user interface. Based on a selection of a suggested price from the range of suggested prices, a preview of the listing as it would appear in a search results page with the one or more additional items is presented in the listing user interface.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transforming an API authorization to a UX session are provided. An authorization server receives, from a third-party application developed by a third-party, a request to access a user experience (UX) session on behalf of a user. The request comprises an access token previously granted by the authorization server to the third-party application in response to consent, by the user, to allow the third-party application to perform actions on behalf of the user. In one embodiment, this previous authorization comprises an Open Authorization (OAuth). In response to receiving the request the authorization server transforms the access token into a single sign on (SSO) link with a session token. The authorization server then returns the SSO link that includes the session token the third-party application hosted by the third-party. The SSO link causes the third-party application to redirect the user to the UX session corresponding to the SSO link.

Abstract: A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a computer-implemented method for generating a navigable user interface for a mobile shopping comparison application. In some embodiments, the method may include determining that a query request has indications of item specific attributes for comparison, identifying the most relevant item attributes corresponding to the item specific comparison, and presenting the attributes in conjunction with their corresponding items in a navigable user interface.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems, methods, and computer storage media for implementing a nuanced-color search and recommendation system. Employing various techniques described herein, an improved search engine for categorizable items is provided to generate accurate color-based search results and recommendations that are relevant to a nuanced color provided as a search parameter. In various implementations, digital assets that depict categorizeable items can be analyzed to characterize the depicted items with, among other things, a particular shade of a determined dominant color. In this way, categorizeable items can be searched based at least in part on a selected shade of a particular dominant color to generate a primary search result. In further embodiments, other categorizeable items can be generated as recommendations based on characteristics of the primary search result.

Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to systems and method to facilitate omnichannel retailing. A networked system determines a location of the user device within a store and accesses a map of the store. An item from a list of one or more items is identified, whereby the item has a plurality of locations within the store. A first location of the item from the plurality of locations is selected. The networked system causes display, on a user interface on the user device, of the location of the user device and the first location of the item and causes display of a user interface element that is operable to receive user selection of a different location from the plurality of locations. In response to receiving the user selection, the networked system ceases display of the first location on the map and causes display of the different location on the map.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for modifying image parameters of an image to be captured by an image capturing device based on input from a wearable computing device. In some embodiments, the system receives image data, determines an image parameter based on the image data, and receives data from a wearable computing device positioned proximate to a subject of the image. The system modifies the image parameter based on the data received from the wearable computing device and captures the image data using the modified image parameter.

Abstract: Technologies are shown for tracking transfer of an item on an item tracking data blockchain, where transfers of the item and the holder of the item are recorded in item tracking data blocks of the blockchain. In some examples, a verification of the item is performed for a transfer and recorded in the data block for the transfer. In other examples, the blockchain stores a unique code for the ticket. Transfers of the ticket are recorded in the blockchain. When the ticket is presented for use, a holder identifier and a presented ticket code are validated against a holder identifier in the most recent block in the blockchain and the unique code for the ticket stored in the blockchain. In some examples, a portion of a resale price of the ticket is sent to an issuer of the ticket.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presented for providing interactive advertisements. In some embodiments, a method is presented. The method may include receiving, at a first advertising space, an indication that a first mobile device of a user is interacting with the first advertising space, the first advertising space displaying an advertisement. In response to the indication, the method may include transmitting information related to the advertisement from the first advertising space to the first mobile device. The method may also include receiving, at a second advertising space in a location geographically distinct from the first advertising space, the information related to the advertisement from a second mobile device; and displaying the advertisement at the second advertising space based on the information received at the second advertising space about the advertisement.

Abstract: Systems and methods of adopting data across different sites are disclosed. In some example embodiments, a data adoption system configures a first networked site to adopt data from one or more other networked sites, detects new data on the other networked site(s), with the new data being associated with a data item on the other networked site(s), determines that a record of the data item is being stored on the first networked site, and stores the new data from the other networked site(s) on the first networked site in association with the data item based on the detecting of the new data on the other networked site(s) and the determining that a record of the data item is being stored on the first networked site.

Abstract: Systems and methods for are provided for predicting impending failure of a database and preemptively initiating mitigating failover actions, for example by shedding connections or redirecting connection requests to an alternate database that can fulfill resources being requested. In an example embodiment, to detect a slow or unstable database, connection wait times are monitored over a rolling window of time intervals, a quantity of intervals in which at least one excessive wait time event occurred are counted during the time window, and if the quantity exceeds a threshold, the database is deemed unavailable, thereby triggering connection adjustments.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, devices, systems, and methods for a waist measuring belt are provided. An example waist measuring belt is made up of a belt buckle frame with attachments for a belt strap. The belt further includes a position measuring module coupled to the belt buckle frame that measures an attachment position of a second end of the belt strap to the belt buckle frame. The belt also includes a tension measuring module coupled to the belt buckle frame that measures a tension through the belt buckle frame and the belt strap. A memory and a wireless communication module attached to the belt may be used to store measurements and communicate with a mobile device or server. In various embodiments, estimated user waist sizes over time using measured values and belt-specific data may be used to estimate a user's waist size and generate a waist size history.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method for versioning data in an unstructured data store are presented. The method includes generating a first record in the unstructured data store based on a version of a second record in the unstructured data store. The method further includes initializing a parent version identifier of the first record based on the version of the second record. The method further includes comparing the parent version identifier of the first record to a version identifier of the second record. The method further includes determining whether the first record is consistent based on the comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods, and non-transitory computer-readable media for using adversarial learning for fine-grained image search. An image search system receives a search query that includes an input image depicting an object. The search system generates, using a generator, a vector representation of the object in a normalized view. The generator was trained based on a set of reference images of known objects in multiple views, and feedback data received from an evaluator that indicates performance of the generator at generating vector representations of the known objects in the normalized view. The evaluator including a discriminator sub-module, a normalizer sub-module, and a semantic embedding sub-module that generate the feedback data. The image search system identifies, based on the vector representation of the object, a set of other images depicting the object, and returns at least one of the other images in response to the search query.

Abstract: In various example embodiments, a system and method to provide status indictors on an image galley is disclosed. At least one item to be displayed in an image gallery on a client device is identified. Once identified, status information for the item is obtained. Subsequently, gallery rendering and display instructions are generated and transmitted to the client device. The rendering and display instructions include the status information and enables generation of status indicators from the status information for display over the image gallery at the client device. The rendering and display instructions may also include instructions for displaying the image gallery. The status information at the client device may be updated as status information changes.

Abstract: An item page may be displayed on a client device in response to a request to view an item page from the client device. They item page may include a description of the item. An icon may be generated and the icon may be displayed within a portion of the displayed item page at an icon location. A plurality of selectable actions each being performable with respect to the item described by the item page may be generated and displayed in response to an initial gesture being performed at the icon location for at least a pre-defined threshold duration. Lastly, the plurality of selectable actions may be displayed around the generated icon and within a pre-defined distance from the icon location of the generated icon.

Abstract: An augmented reality or virtual reality (AR/VR) device pairs with a companion device to augment input interfaces associated with an AR/VR application at the AR/VR device. In implementations, an AR/VR device determines a portion of a markup file that corresponds to an AR/VR scene of a plurality of AR/VR scenes in an AR/VR environment, and communicates the portion of the markup file to the companion device to cause the companion device to configure a companion user interface associated with initiating an action as part of the AR/VR scene. In response to receiving user input via the companion user interface, the companion device communicates the action to the AR/VR device to initiate the action. The AR/VR device receives input data from the companion device, and initiates the action for the AR/VR scene.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises receiving, via a mobile station, contextual information or geographic location data relating to a plurality of members of the population within the geographic region, identifying a common element in the received contextual information relating to at least two members of the population as a basis for defining a geofence to include the at least two members, wherein the common element is identified upon a comparison of the first and second contextual information, and defining the boundary of the geofence.

Abstract: A method and system to generate a portable contract document are provided. The method includes receiving contract information from a client device via an interactive electronic document having one more visual controls. The contract information comprises sale item information, buyer information, and sale price information. The method further includes generating a contract document for a sale of the sale item, utilizing the contract information, and communicating the contract document to the client device via a network communication.

Abstract: Methods and systems for trend aware self-correcting entity relationship extraction are disclosed. For example, a method can include receiving a selected entity, determining a plurality of entities related to the selected entity, determining a plurality of most probable entities, calculating relevance scores, and displaying a subset of the plurality of most probable entities. The selected entity can be received on a network-based transaction system. The plurality of entities related to the selected entity can be determined based on a relationship score. The relationship score can represent navigation transitions, aggregated over time, between the selected entity and each of the plurality of entities. The plurality of most probable entities can be determined based on probabilities. Relevance scores can be calculated for each of the plurality of most probable entities. Finally, the subset of the plurality of most probable entities to be displayed can be determined according to the relevance scores.

Abstract: Defects are identified in a pre-production version of an application. Input used to test the pre-production version is derived from input received by a production version of the application. Input to the production version may be selectively filtered and/or amplified before being provided as test input to the pre-production version. In this way, the makeup and rate of the test input can be controlled while maintaining the character, pattern, and unpredictable nature of real-world input. Defects may be identified when the test input causes the pre-production version to crash, hang, write to an error log, or otherwise manifest or report a malfunction. In addition to identifying defects, filtered and amplified input may also be used to perform regression testing, load testing, performance testing, etc.

Abstract: Flexible and user-friendly navigation of loaded media in a multi-media presentation is described. A user may be able to view and/or edit the presentation. In at least one embodiment, navigating loaded media includes loading a page of a collage document to a client device, where the page has a plurality of layers and each layer is associated with a media object. This further includes creating a list of layers of the loaded page, each layer indexed by at least a position in the collage document; navigating the collage document in at least one direction and at least one speed based on user input; and filtering the list of layers based on at least the position in the collage document and a visual window of a user interface to display visible layers of the page within the visual window.
