Apple Ships Early Version Of Rhapsody, Cuts Prices

Apple Computer Inc. said Monday that it lowered prices on some Macintosh computers, announced rebates for others and said it began shipping an early version of its next-generation Rhapsody operating system.

Apple also said it revamped its customer-support policies to add free support via the Internet and the company's automated phone system. Apple said it will offer free phone support for the first 90 days after a computer is purchased but that it will charge $35 a call beyond 90 days.
