Apple Tries to Woo Developers As a Crucial Conference Starts

Apple Computer Inc. chairman Gil Amelio on Tuesday sought to persuade software developers to keep writing exciting programs for the Macintosh, despite the company's missteps and sometimes confusing strategy.
