In what turned out to be a horribly lengthy presentation given the few interesting announcements contained therein, Steve Jobs announced some changes to the iLife suite of applications at Macworld Expo this morning.

For starters, iPhoto will run a little faster than before, and it'll have a new file limit of 250,000 photos. It'll also include a feature called Photocasting, which lets you share photos via an RSS feed if you have a .Mac account.

iMovie also gets a few minor updates, including the ability to open multiple projects at once and the ability to create video podcasts. It'll also let you create widescreen DVD menus in a slightly easier drag-and-drop interface.

Speaking of podcasts, new integration with GarageBand and iChat allows you to use iChat to conduct interviews and quickly convert them into podcasts.

The most interesting addition to the iLife suite is iWeb, a new app that lets you quickly build websites for photo sharing, blogging, videos, music, and more. It looks pretty basic, which isn't surprising. The app comes with a bunch of themes that you can pick from for that website-in-a-can look. The coolest feature of iWeb is its ability to publish audio and video recordings as podcasts to your website in just a couple of clicks.

The whole iLife '06 suite is on sale today at Apple's website for $79.

Apple's iWork suite is also being released in a new version today, but it looks to have almost no meaningful additions. That suite costs $79 as well.
