Elvis Song Lyrics

[Intro]
(You were always on my mind)

[Verse 1]
Cold bench on a platform
Last train on the Northern Line
I'm trying to keep you out my mind
Too drunk for a drawbridge
Your name floods when my eyes are shut
We found love
You gave it all and I gave it up

[Pre-Chorus]
I don't do it often
But when no one's watching
No one's watching
I'm thinking 'bout

[Chorus]
Late nights in the old arcade
Drinking cheap wine as Elvis plays
Singing, "You were always on my mind"
I was yours and you were mine
Breakfast on your sofa bed
Thinking, "Oh God, I'm in over my head"
You were always on my mind
You're always on my mind
[Verse 2]
I've got no right to miss you
All I did was kiss and fly
Each time I stayed another night
I was scared to throw my hеart off the edge
Easiеr to tell myself we'd mess it up instead
So I left
But it plays round in my head

[Pre-Chorus]
I don't do this often
But when no one's watching
No one's watching
I'm thinking 'bout

[Chorus]
Late nights in the old arcade
Drinking cheap wine as Elvis plays
Singing, "You were always on my mind"
I was yours and you were mine
Breakfast on your sofa bed
Thinking, "Oh God, I'm in over my head"
You were always on my mind
You're always on my mind

[Post-Chorus]
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always, always, always on my mind
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always, always, always on my mind
[Bridge]
In my mind, I hear it and I know nothing's changed
In my mind, we share earphones on the midnight train
And I've tried
You moved on and I moved a little too
But I still wish things were different
Don't you?

[Pre-Chorus]
I never wanna stop thinking 'bout

[Chorus]
Late nights in the old arcade
Drinking cheap wine as Elvis plays
Singing, "You were always on my mind"
I was yours and you were mine
Breakfast on your sofa bed
Thinking, "Oh God, I'm in over my head"
You were always on my mind
You're always on my mind

[Outro]
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always, always, always on my mind
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always, always, always on my mind
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always, always, always on my mind
(Mind, mind, mind)
You were always on my mind

Genius Answer

One of the oldest tracks on the album. This is like stadium euphoria to me but with more realism to it, I guess. ‘I’ve got no right to miss you’ is something I’ve always played around with, and it’s a feeling I’ve definitely felt before.
