Field of Screams brings scares to Provident Bank Park

If you build it, they will scream. At least, that's the hope.

For the first time ever, the Rockland Boulders will host "Field of Screams" at Pomona's Provident Bank Park, a haunted attraction. And they're looking for actors to help put the scare into guests.

Certain parts of the ballpark — mostly the home and visitors' clubhouses, as well as some outdoor elements — will be given the Halloween treatment and revamped into different, themed "scare zones" for guests to enjoy.

"This is the first of what we're hoping to be a bigger and better tradition each year, where we'll incorporate more areas of the ballpark each season," says Christian Heimall, spokesman for the Boulders.

Anyone interested in auditioning should e-mail Heimall at [email protected]. Actors will be compensated and a background in theater or haunted attractions is preferred.

There's no firm deadline to apply, Heimall says, and they will set up auditions with potential actors until the event is at capacity.

"Field of Screams" will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Oct. 23 and 30 and 8 to 10 p.m. Halloween night. Admission is $5 at the door and parking is free. The event may be too scary for children under 13 and no masks or costumes will be allowed.

For a less intense time at the ballpark, the team's third annual BoulderBird's Trick-or-Treat will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Halloween. The event is free and open only to kids 12 and under and their parents.

The park is located at 1 Provident Bank Park Dr., Pomona.
