{Translated using Google Translate}: I have a Ricoh IM 430F printer, it is connected via a network, it can print correctly but when scanning it does not work, previously it worked on other devices, but on others it has stopped working and nothing has worked.
Greetings, and welcome to Spiceworks! Are you trying to scan to a network location, and (if so), have you checked to verify the scan credentials still work properly? Are you getting any kind of error message at all? Does the printer job log reference anything?

Good morning, the error I get is this: sending failed, connection error, directly on the printer, when scanning directly from the printer to send to a shared folder over the network added to the company’s address book it gives that error, it has smb 2 and 3 active, the computers both desktop and laptop run Windows 11 and 10 and some work normally and in others that worked it stopped working out of nowhere and gives the error that I mentioned, I have shared the folder again, verified permissions, and everything is fine, I don’t know what the error is.
Is the printer attempting to scan to shares on the individual W10/W11 computers? If so, can you check to see if the ones that aren’t working may have had patches applied recently, since Patch Tuesday was just last week? Are you able to access the same shares from other devices besides the printer, or Is it only the printer that is unable to access the shares?

I was also thinking that it might be a Windows update, but I don’t know how to specifically look at that and remove it or something like that, what happens is that here they manage network users for each computer, so you can see what the other has shared but you can’t access it because you can’t manage two network users in Windows, since I wanted to share the folder of the computers that worked as a temporary solution, but it can’t because of the network users, the printer sends the scan to the computers that work at once, but with the others that don’t work, it stays thinking and gives the error after a few seconds, I don’t know what it could be
This is almost certainly an issue with either a recent update or a permissions issue on the computers that are not working, but if the above translation is correct, it sounds like perhaps you don’t have the ability to manage these things directly. You’ll need to speak to whomever it is that you mentioned actually does manage the network.

The problem is that the area here is small, so I’m in charge of the ICT area. The network part is working correctly, there’s just the scanner error, but I haven’t been able to find the error. Is there a way to look at it?
I don’t have a Ricoh scanner, but if it’s anything like my HP’s, the available logs will not help you much. This is why I would recommend trying to troubleshoot the share(s) themselves from the network computers. Start first by trying to map to the same share the scanner’s attempting to reach. You can do this by finding the network path in the scanner’s settings, and then mapping to that same share from one of the computers. You may have to choose the option to connect using different credentials so that you can enter the same username and password the scanner’s trying to use, but that should at least an idea of whether or not it’s the scanner itself or something with the shares on the computers.

If there’s any support company managing your devices, I would recommend looping them in. Otherwise, our resident printer expert @Repairatrooper might have some words of wisdom?

Could you explain a little more about shared resources? I tried copying the network configuration from another computer that did work, but it still didn’t work for me. There’s a network switch here, so I don’t know if that affects anything. I see that the printer has an assigned IP address, and from my computer I can connect to that IP address from the network, and it pings and everything. In the printer settings, I see it’s using DHCP.
(TY @ode2joy for the others!)

Ricoh has published a fix for scanning on Win11 24H2, which until it is fixed may or may not scan. (if I read the lead up to this page correctly)
“…have confirmed that applying the cumulative update (KB5053598) for Windows 11 version 24H2 resolves this issue…”
I am not positive this applies to you, so pls let us know and we’ll take it from there!

What do you mean when you say you tried copying the network configuration from another computer? As I mentioned previously, I am doubting the issue is with the printer itself, since some scans work and it’s only certain computers that are having the issue, so I would stop focusing on the printer for now and try the steps I and others mentioned earlier, to include trying to map out to the shares from another computer and/or uninstalling any recently-installed Windows updates on the problem computers.

I’m afraid perhaps there might be an issue with translation, as I did not say anything about assigning shared resources to another computer. What I was trying to say is that if your printer is attempting to scan to \\computer1\shared_folder_name and is failing, you should open Windows File Explorer and try to access that same file share from another computer (computer2 as an example) using the same username and password the printer uses to scan to the share. If you cannot access it from another computer, at least perhaps the error message on the screen or in the event log might give us more detail on what the issue might be.

You can absolutely map to a drive with a different set of credentials than the currently logged-in user. When mapping the drive, you just select the box to use different credentials and enter the username and password of the account that been given access to the share:

And what happens if you do Windows + R and enter \\computer_name in instead? If that doesn’t work, what happens if you try to ping the computer by its name? What happens if you change the scanner to scan to the IP address instead of the computer name?
