Hi there,

I noticed today that some software I have uninstalled from various PCs are still showing as installed on their inventory which is flagging up the software as uncompliant.

I have tried forcing a full scan on the PCs, making sure that Incremental Scanning is Disabled and set “Scanner sends all data instead of deltas” to True as outlined on a previous post I found.

What is the easiest way to remove this software from the PC’s inventory?

I have had a look at editing the database using SQLiteBrowser however I’m unsure where to find the specific entry on the database that refers to the software installed on that particular PC.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated!

Alot of programs dont remove themself from the registry correctly, try running a registry cleaner and scanning again

I had that problem in the past and I deleted the device, then rescanned it.

Just tried running CCleaner on the PC then rescanned, unfortunately the software is still showing. I will try deleting the PC then rescanning the IP to pull it back in. Will let you know how I get on.

Tried deleting the PC, uninstalled Microsoft Office XP, MS Office 2007 Compatibility Pack for good measure (it’s MS Office 2007 Basic that keeps showing) .

Restarted the PC, re-ran CCleaner on the registry, rescanned with Spiceworks however Microsoft Office 2007 Basic is still showing as installed.

Anyone got any other ideas before I give up on removing this?

Did a bit more searching and found a solution on the Spiceworks community:

I had to delete the following keys from the registry:

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration{90120000-0012-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\User Settings{90120000-0012-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}]

Rescanned the PC and Office 2007 Basic had been removed.

Thanks for posting your answer. I swear I just got on the support forum to ask the exact same question. Glad to know there is a solution.

We also had this problem, with this as the solution that worked.

However, there still seems to a Spiceworks inconsistency: Given this registry "orphan*, why should a SW scan (without first deleting the device) not remove the software from SW records while a SW scan (after deleting the device) fails to add the software to the SW record for that device?
