Hello,

i’ve got big trouble with MS Office 2007 and software inventory in SW. I uninstalled several versions of MS Office 2007 and replaced them with 2003, but the keep up showing in the inventory.

I tried a manual scan with spiceworks-finder.exe -iv using “POST mypc” and it still shows a record about “2007 Microsoft Office system”.

My tests shows, that if i remove this key from the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Office\\12.0

SW did not see the product anymore. Note that there is no Uninstall information left, which resides under a different key.

How can we enhance SW to ignore uninstalled software?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

Thanks Ben,

well i think i was too stupid to see that “2007 Microsoft Office System” is NOT MS-Office 2007, but the converter software package to open XDOCs in Office 2003.

Sorry for complaining SW for that. The number of Software shown is massive and hard to distinguish. Isn’t there a way to group/filter products. If i search my software inventory for MS-Office, i got so many hits. I wish there would be a way to group them together.

For example: All products of MS-Office which have an “11” as major version number are known as “Office 2003” products. Maybe there would be a way to create and share those groups/filters in the community.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Hi Oliver,

Spiceworks should be keying off of the uninstall regkeys, which I see you have already checked.

Instead of manually scanning from the command-line try doing a Refresh on one of the devices in question.

If that does not work, try turning on the Scanner sends all data instead of deltas setting, and disable Incremental Scanning in (Settings → Network Scan). Then run a full network scan.

This should force Spiceworks to pull all information down (all data instead of deltas), and to fully scan all devices (Incremental off).

If we determine that the problem is not with scanning we may need to take a closer look at the registry.

{"@type":"Person
Ben-B-Spiceworks
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Ben-B-Spiceworks"}},{"@type":"Answer
Oliver,

That is a great idea - there is definitely a call from users for a way to filter and understand the Microsoft software inventory.
