so I am messing around in the server room pull off the front plate of a IBM server, that runs our EMR cheating on trying to get it ready to rack mount after work, when I accidentally hit the power button and turn it off. :0
So that was fun.

HAHAHAHAHA … whoops!
My favourite thing was back in the NT4 Server days, changing the password but forgetting to change the passwords on the services … when the system was shut down/power outage … spending the next 1/2 hour trying to work out why half the system wasnt working … needless to say back then I was fairly green …
oh those days … hehehe
Hide until Tuesday and fewer people will ask what happened.

Yeah, I’ve done that one. Luckily I haven’t done it on an EMR. It was just a basic file server.
I hope you didn’t lose any data.

I think we’ve all been there… the real question is did you just quickly move the server after it was shutdown? lol.

the IBM’s usually come with a small (ring, type) protective bezel you put over the power button to avoid grazing the power button…so you have to use a pen or something to reach in and hit the button.
All bets are off if you had the whole front panel off…

You are just having everyone show up to your place. Are you sure you dont have our comments from yesterday?
Yep ChicagoPete the whole cover was off, and I should know better. but the good thing is had time to pull out the bad tape drive also. and hand it to the tech that came in.
also the conversion of tower to rack is a real pain in the rump. would not suggest it.
always just buy rack mount.
