While prices on the more entry-level configurations have now jumped up a touch from our previous mentions, Amazon is now offering its best price ever on the M4 Mac mini with 24GB of RAM and the 512GB SSD at $899 shipped. Regularly $999, this is a straight $100 price at $19 under our previous mention to deliver the lowest price we have tracked to date.
While for many it is the relatively affordable price point of the entry 16GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB configurations that makes the new M4 Mac mini such an alluring prospect. They are, after all, the most affordable current-generation Macs you can buy. But with a $100 price drop, today’s deal puts the significantly upgraded 24GB/512GB M4 mini on par with the lowest sale prices we see on the current MacBook Air models with 16GB of RAM, for comparison.
Okay so comparing headless Mac minis to the laptops isn’t exactly all that helpful – most folks aren’t deciding between these two machines, but it does put into perspective where this elevated Mac mini with Apple’s latest M4 chip sits in the lineup.
This particular machine is actually the one I have had my eye on – it is either this one or the M4 Pro variant, but the Pro sells for $500 more ($395 more with the current sale price at Amazon) than the deal price we have today and comes with the same RAM and storage count. Yes it does have the more powerful chip, but I think the standard M4 will be just fine for my daily work tasks and some Logic Pro action. What do you think?
