Update: You can now preorder Rad Power’s new RadRunner Max Cargo Utility e-bike with a free extra battery (a $499 value) for $2,299 shipped until it begins shipping sometime around May 7.

Since February, we’ve seen Rad Power Bikes continue offering its RadRunner series of e-bikes at the lowest prices we have seen in their history, which has had fans of the e-mobility brand questioning just what is about to happen to some of the most beloved models under the Rad flag. Today, we’re finally getting our answer as Rad Power launches the next generation of the fan-favorites, with two – The RadRunner and RadRunner Plus – immediately hitting the market, while the third – the all-new RadRunner Max – opens for preorders. On top of these, there’s also a new RadRunner Range Extender being launched for preorder. You can learn all about these new models and their prices below, complete with links to secure your own.

Before we get into the specific upgrades of these three new models, let’s first go over their shared features, which Rad Power has designed with a focus on safety, versatility, and accessibility. They’ve been engineered to offer something for everyone – just what you’d expect from a series of Utility e-bikes.
“Since joining Rad, I’ve been energized by the opportunity to build on the company’s strong foundation and connect even more people to the power of e-bikes. The new RadRunner lineup is all about giving riders more versatility, more comfort, and more confidence. Just like these new models offer options to match different riding needs, we’re continuing to provide riders with flexible ways to find the right e-bike for them, whether that’s online, in one of our RadRetail stores, or through our growing network of retail partners across the country.”
Kathi Lentzsch, CEO of Rad Power Bikes.
Each of the three RadRunner e-bikes comes with a variety of upgrades to improve upon the series’ already proven track record. Starting with the structural innovations, these models are getting increased payloads for those who utilize them for groceries, shuttling passengers, and other cargo-hauling needs. They’re also coming with IPX6 weather-resistance ratings, meaning they can handle high-pressure water streams, letting riders stress far less over getting caught in rain while out cruising. The brand is recommending folks acquaint themselves with their manual for post-wet weather riding maintenance to keep things running at optimal levels.
We’re also seeing these e-bikes equipped with all-terrain tires with specially-designed treads so you can continue your adventures on pavement, gravel, or dirt. Alongside the tires, they’re also getting improved stopping power through hydraulic disc brakes, while also coming powered by the brand’s Safe Shield Batteries, which come more durable and provide increased power – all with thermal-resistant tech that bulks up protections against corrosion and overheating.
While the RadRunner Max offers more smart features, all three of these e-bikes have passcode protections built right in, helping to deter theft while also offering extra peace of mind. Likewise, you’ll also be receiving personalized service reminders during your ownership, keeping you up-to-date on tune-up needs.
Now then, let’s get into the specific innovations we’re seeing for each of these new models…
The RadRunner e-bike – accessibility at $1,499
One of the two refreshed models, the RadRunner e-bike is launching at $1,499 shipped. This next-generation version of the tried-and-true e-bike that started it all is maintaining much of its simplicity, but with notable changes that I certainly can’t complain about.
It’s being given a 750W motor to match up with its predecessors and counterparts alike, with 65Nm of torque that will add to its incline-tackling capabilities and lend towards faster pick-up to its 20 MPH top speed. The payload is rated to hold up to 320 pounds total, and it comes with 55+ miles of travel range on a single charge, with its maximum capabilities possible when the PAS is activated. This is notably going to be the one model that won’t be compatible with the Range Extender.
The RadRunner Plus – passenger-ready at $1,799
The second of the refreshed models, and also the first that sold out upon the clearance deals dropping back in February, the new RadRunner Plus Cargo Utility e-bike is launching at $1,799 shipped. Originally launched as a limited-edition model in 2020, it quickly became a favorite among riders and earned a permanent place under the brand’s flag.
This new generation holds onto its Class 2 title, and comes with the same 120-pound payload for the rear rack as its previous iteration, though it features a passenger seat, retractable foot pegs, and a protective wheel skirt to shield from flung-up grit and grime. You can also count on getting 70Nm of torque for greater hill climbing and the suspension fork smoothing out bumpier terrain. This model will also be compatible with the new Range Extender.
The RadRunner Max – a Class 3 premium reimagining for $2,299
Building upon the success of the RadRunner 3 Plus, the brand has reimagined its design into the RadRunner Max Cargo Utility e-bike, which opens for preorders at $2,299 shipped and comes with Rad’s most advanced technology and premium components.
It’s been upgraded to a Class 3 e-bike, topping out at 28 MPH speeds alongside 60+ miles of range with its PAS activated. The cadence sensor has been swapped out for a torque sensor, giving you even more responsive pick-up for the pedal assistance that pairs with the brand’s RideLogic tech in order to replicate the smoother acceleration you’d get from a car – all without the emissions!
It’s been given some quality smart features that will certainly perk up riders, like the Apple Find My capabilities that give you the means to hunt down your e-bike’s location should it go missing, as well as Find My programming on iPhones, iPads, or Mac – plus, there’s a Find Items app for the Apple Watch. That’s not all, as this model also gets a digital key that provides autonomous unlocking by simply approaching it, as well as a new radar feature that alerts you to any approaching vehicles and/or other riders directly on the display.
Rad’s refresh RadRunner series is open for purchase and preorder
Purchases are now open on the first two models, with the RadRunner Cargo Utility e-bike at $1,499 shipped while the RadRunner Plus Cargo Utility e-bike sits a little higher at $1,799 shipped.
On the other side of things, the RadRunner Max Cargo Utility e-bike is now open for preorder at $2,299 shipped, and will begin shipping out in early May. Likewise the RadRunner Range Extender is available to preorder at $249 shipped, and will also begin shipping in early May.
