Update: Death Stranding 2: On The Beach pre-orders are now live at Amazon.
Some six years after the release of the original Death Stranding, we are now just over a month out from the worldwide debut of the next Kojima epic, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. And with Kojima’s close partnership with the PlayStation team, it was only a matter time before the official Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Limited Edition DualSense controller was revealed.
New details on Death Stranding 2 + limited edition DualSense
Alongside the DualSense wireless controller – Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Limited Edition, which, as I’m sure you imagined, was designed in close connection with the Kojima Productions squad, the famous gaming auteur is also serving up a ton of new details on the game as part of an official interview with PlayStation, as well as a new “hands-on” report loaded with new visuals. While you can get the complete details above, the short-form version, based on a number of hands-on reports, is that Death Stranding 2 is bigger and better in just about every way. It still has that wild Kojima-esque story approach (there is a complete recap of the first game for new players), loads more combat (and combat-focused mechanics), but it is very much the brilliant and somewhat divisive walking sim the first game was – you either hated it or loved it really.
Either way, the game is quickly approaching and the new special edition DualSense has arrived:
It will be available for purchase “in limited quantities for a recommended retail price of $84.99” starting on “May 22, 2025 at 10am local time at direct.playstation.com (where available), as well as participating retailers. The exact launch date and availability for the controller may vary by country/region.” This, as we reported previously, is a few days after the May 17 pre-order kick off time for the collector’s edition of the game as well – the complete details on that await right here.
