Amazon’s Blink smart home brand is announcing and launching its new next-generation Blink Video Doorbell today. A brand well known for delivering affordable smart home solutions – you can score the now previous-generation model for just $29.99 Prime shipped – is ready to debut its newest addition to the family with a series of upgraded features alongside a relatively light-on-the-pocket price tag. Details below.
Next-generation Blink Video Doorbell debuts today

Blink has never really been thought of as the most premium and high-tech solution, but in my experience even its most affordable “entry-level” solutions tend to hit above their pay grade. I think, in most cases, with these ultra high-tech options, most folks just end up using the base feature set anyway, and if you’re in that category Blink and its next-gen smart Video Doorbell are worth consideration.

All of that said, Blink is making some notable improvements this time around including up to two-year battery life, a head-to-toe view, and a new Sync Module Core – “Blink’s system hub that enables up to two-year battery life and convenient control of up to 10 Blink devices, now with a new modern design. And with Alexa-enabled devices, you can connect it to your Echo devices for hands-free monitoring and real-time alerts.”
Here’s a quick rundown of the key features of the new Blink Video Doorbell:
- Set Up In Minutes, Use for Years: Blink Video Doorbell runs off three AA lithium batteries and a Blink Sync Module to give you up to two years battery life. And everything you need to set up is in the box.
- See More at Your Front Door: The upgraded 150° head-to-toe field of view allows you to greet guests and watch packages get delivered in a 1:1 aspect ratio, day and night, with HD infrared night vision.
- Person Detection: This Blink Video Doorbell features the addition of computer vision-enabled person detection. With smart notifications, customers can receive alerts only when a person is detected versus an animal or object (available with a Blink subscription plan).
Again, it’s not got every single bell and whistle you might find on models in the $200 to $300 range, but at the $69.99 asking price, I have a feeling this one will cover plenty of folks’ needs out there, and keep a ton of cash in their pocket too.
The next-generation Blink Video Doorbell comes in white or black to match your front door decor and carries a $69.99 list price (or $59.99 without the sync module). It is scheduled to be available for purchase today, and we will update this post accordingly (if it’s not already up at the time of writing).
