Today is the day folks and it all starts very soon. The big Summer Game Fest shows takes the stage on Friday followed by the Xbox showcase this upcoming Sunday, but Sony is kicking off the big summer gaming showcases today before the Nintendo Switch madness ensues later this evening and tomorrow.
PlayStation State of Play summer game showcase
It was unclear whether or not Sony would even host of big-time summer showcase this year until it made an official announcement of today’s State of Play yesterday morning.
While it is still unclear how “big” and worthy of an E3 summer replacement showcase today’s event is going to be, Sony will nonetheless be taking the virtual stage this afternoon with a relatively lengthy presentation.
Sony certainly didn’t give us any details on what will actually be on display, but we do know it will run for about 40 minutes, which should give it more than enough time to do some damage and give us a look at some major releases coming this year. Let’s just hope there are some big-time surprises in the works here – perhaps a new IP or sequel – to inject some excitement into the PS5 ecosystem.
