Update: Pre-orders for the new official Pokémon Switch 2 console bundle are now live:
- Switch 2 + Pokémon Legends: Z-A $500 (Target)
- Switch 2 + Pokémon Legends: Z-A $500 (Best Buy)

This morning we were graced with some new details and gameplay for Pokémon Legends: Z-A as part of the Pokémon Presents showcase ahead of release, but immediately following that, Nintendo stole the show with the reveal of the official Pokémon Switch 2 console bundle.

While perhaps mildly bitter sweet for folks who already purchased a Switch 2 knowing they were really just waiting to play the new Pokémon game when it hits on October 16, there is some notable value here on a console that might not actually go on sale for years for folks who have thus far held out.
Nintendo originally launched Switch 2 in two SKUs: The Switch 2 console on its own at $449.99 and the Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle at $499.99.
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch pre-order $60
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 pre-order $70
While Nintendo home console gaming certainly got more expensive this generation, not to mention the price of the games all going up, the Mario Kart World bundle actually delivers a discount, and so does the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A package that was revealed this morning.
The value, as we just established, of a Switch 2 console here in the U.S. is $450. The price of Mario Kart World purchase on its own is $80. That means the MK World bundle is actually a bit of a deal considering you get the Switch 2 and the game at $500 – that’s $30 less than buying them individually.
And that’s very similar to what we are getting with the brand new (mouthful of a name) Nintendo Switch 2 + Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Bundle. Pokémon Legends: Z-A actually carries a $70 list price, so it’s only $20 in savings, but savings it is, nonetheless.
As alluded to above, none of this is all that notable for folks who already bought a console and want to play the new Pokémon game, but if you didn’t grab a machine yet, it very much is.
Nintendo previously confirmed the Mario Kart World bundle is actually a limited production run that will no longer be made at some point this fall. Whether or not it decides to keep that promise remains to be seen, but it sounds like the new pocket monster bundle will meet the same fate – “Limited quantity. Available while supplies last.”
Either way, Switch 2 consoles are readily available at retail at this point (for the most part), and, according to Nintendo, the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Bundle should be up for grabs at some point today. Whether or not it is equally as readily available is another story all together, but we will be keeping a close eye on listings and availability throughout the day.
This new Pokémon Switch 2 console bundle, for the record, it just a standard Switch 2 with a download code for the game that will be available on October 16 when it releases. It does, however, have a different box, and this might very well get the dastardly scalpers reeling.
Good luck Trainers!
