Question asked today: “why should I spice a comment?” Its really very simple and here is why.

Step 1: Serious Question High Spice = ?

In a serious question, no matter what it is, problem with outlook, maybe humidity in a server room, or whatever it may be. You see a comment that you agree with, if you click the spice button it adds a +1 for you agree with what that person said.

The higher the spice is, the more likely it may be a best answer, or possibly a helpful post.

Step 2: Water Cooler High Spice = ?

in the watercooler there is no gain to what you say, here the higher spice levels just help boost the ego’s of the people around you, show you found something funny. Dare I say +1 for finding it funny? Or maybe witty?

Step 3: Spicing How-To’s?

Untitled.jpg

A how-to can help other spice heads in their mission to solve a problem, every time it gets spiced it makes the writer of the How-to a little bit more welcoming to the idea of writing another how-to. If the How-To absolutely is dreadful, down voting never hurts, just a pleasant notice to try harder.

The more spice it has, the more likely people will see it, the more likely people see it, the higher the possibility they’ll share it. More shares = more spice, more spice = more shares.

Really its all in all a way to either help guide the community to a goal as a whole, or a way to help us feel funny. Ego boosts, and similar goes solved, everyone wins and we continue to grow.

RAM,

Good post and hopefully it will encourage more spicers. Here is also hoping to people do BA / HP more regularly also.

Maybe add a number 3 about spicing up How-Tos?

It’s just good manners. If you like something, why not let the writer (and others) know?

I would have thought you would have used your own how-to for #3! Draw a little arrow pointing to your how-to’s spiciness

Good write-up.

Good writeup. It should help sort out replies to serious posts.

So this spicing…is it based off of liking things similar to Facebook?

Thanks,
A.J.

This how to is a good point, to show others, where the solution for a question is.

Good reminder - thanks. Wield thy spice with prudence and thoughtfulness.

There are a lot of social “norms” that people pick up over time using Spiceworks and there aren’t a lot of guides to get you going quickly.

I hadn’t seen this until I found a link from hsc5775, thanks.

Good to know, this is helpful and is really more to do with manners of showing your appreciation for others within the community.

I’m try add a answer on this but I can’t find the option HA/bp

I wish more people took the time to spice up topics, posts and especially helpful posts and best answers. Thanks for sharing RAM :).

Great explanation of how spicing really does matter. Thanks for the share!

Great breakdown of spicing! I think the whole idea of the scoring system here at spiceworks makes for a very fun and entertaining experience while also learning something new.

Thanks for the brief explanation. Helpful to know an easy way to be part of the community.

Not sure I understand. I thought spicing was what you do when you sneak into your cousins house and throw red cayenne powder in the air ducts then turn on the AC before leaving.
