We have been using Logmein Free to Remote Control Our servers and computers, but now the free package is going to be discontinued and everyone has to pay.

So i Wonder if there is any good Remote Control software to Remote Control Windows 2003 and newer servers and Windows XP and newer computers.

Needs to be free.

Sorry Megaman but if you’re going to be using these tools on a professional level then it’s time to pay for a license like the rest of us!

Or do it the old fashioned way and use Remote Desktop.

If you’re going to pay then I recommend Teamviewer!

Thanks for Your reply.

Have you tested any free Tools out there?

Before we used something called ultravnc, not sure if it stil exists.

UltraVNC and TightVNC are still around:

RDP is also fine for the Windows environment and can even be used with *nix with XRDP.

Until you are treated like garbage. LMI has just alienated a huge loyal user base, it’s not just about the cancellation notice.

I’m in the same boat, I also used logmein to access windows workstations and severs, this is for charities and personnel friends that I don’t charge for, and was glad to be able to help them, but now this has really create me issues.

I , or the people I help have the funds to pay for what I’ve been able to provide them for free, and would be really useful if anyone could give me the views on what might be available.

Thanks

Sure does.

RealVNC is too and their team is in the community.

Tons and tons of people in the same boat. Everyone is scrambling to figure out what to do - even those of us who have always paid for LMI products.

We are looking heavily into GFI Max as an alternative. It is built on TeamViewer but licensed differently. Lots of great features.

apparently Remote Utilities is going to be offering 10 free clients for business use option, worth checking them out.

As promised yesterday, our free license for business use (10 PCs) is now available. Feel free to check it out on the website. Also posted information onto the vendor page here on Spiceworks.

Remote Utilities is definitely jumping on the “carcass of LMI” bandwagon.

And Pertino was lucky enough to be sponsoring a SpiceCorps event yesterday so got to talk about how they can replace LMI in real time with LMI customers still in shock in the audience.

Here’s another response I thought I would share:

Plenty of community members have PM’d you too, and you haven’t responded in 2 days. LMI is “hearing” but they are ignoring. And your answers and support are just links to a thread, they all sound like bot responses.

I just notified a couple of people I know who bought LMI Pro about 2 years ago based on my recommendation and they are quitting LMI in about 2 weeks.

Good to know im not the only one having a hard time moving from Lmi

The feature i really loved was that i could log on to a webpage to have a list of all server / computers and then just Connect there, programs like vnc does not have this.

So i have searched a litte and i came over this page: www.beanywhere.com

They have personal edition that is free, and it installs on server With no errors. And now i can Access their webpage and logon, and i can see and log on to all my servers/computers. Nice Nice.

Have anyone used this software before and know something about the company?

Well some extra info:

There are some limitations, after the trial times ends, only one can be logged in at a time, and a limit of only 5 Connections a day.

I wouldn’t pay a penny to Logmein.

Use Google’s Chrome Remote desktop extension. A great replacement.

I also use Teamviewer and RDP. There are others too.

I don’t understand Logmein’s tactics. Why use extortion - when there are great alternatives out there? Forget about them.

Well, we landed on Teamviewer payed for edition and must say so far (a year) that im very pleased. Its stabel, fast, gives good overview of computers, server. And gives us many alternatives for Remote desktop possibilities.
