I have been using logmein central for about 3 years now, but think I am done. What are the best ones out there and how well do they work? I have used remote utilities, but you have to put every computer into a viewer software, for over 100 computers that is not doable, well I guess it is but I don’t want to manage that, rather have a web based screen like logmein that I can get to anywhere.

So here is the reason I am done with them.

First they take away the free, fine.

Next it costs $199 for unlimited computers.

Next year it costs $320 for 100 computers.

This year they want $699 for 100 computers.

Give me a freaking break.

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Same number of systems and all same reasons. I have looked into many different remote options but haven’t found any with the webpage and the great options that lmi had for free :frowning: Also the Iphone / Ipad app.

Yea were off LogMeIn now as well. They keep raising prices and the program/tool itself isn’t getting any better.

We went to TeamViewer. Lightweight tool and easy to use. Can have it installed on computers and manageable or a quick runnable version for quick access (even a normal user can run)

How much are you paying for Teamviwer, when I looked at pricing it was going to be over $2000? Logmein not looking to bad now.

Depends what your needs are.

But rather than an annual subscription, teamviewer is a one time fee. You can use the software until you want to upgrade (similar to buying office 2013 vs office online).

Do you have a firewall that you can setup VPN with? If so, that would be a better way to go.

Are you talking RDP with VPN?

I have thought about that, but sometimes I can just sit down at whatever hotel, if I don’t have my laptop close and take over someone’s PC that is having issues. I want to still be able to do that.

Not have to keep track of everyone’s IP address or computer name.

Thanks for the feedback, Shane! We’ll soon implement automatic gathering/harvesting of IDs of remote PCs right into the Viewer. So more automation is coming.

I am still pleased that I left LogMeIn last year and went with using ScreenConnect… What a great program, upset I handed over any money to LogMeIn.

Marat, do you know when that is coming out? I already have one license for support of my other clients, but this is a big client so they will need their own license.

I really like it, and have used it a ton.

I do have one weird issue I need to put into support. For some reason on one server after the host has been running a few days with out being accessed the next time I access it, the CAD button does nothing. I have to have someone go and stop and start the host again and it works perfectly.

GoToAssist. You get access to 100 unattended machines per technician license and anyone can jump into a session by going to the site www.fastsupport.com .

It’s one of our highest priorities so we’ll get down to implementing it as soon as we release version 6.1 which is due in a few days. The approximate ETA is this spring, can’t give a more exact date though.

That could be if the remote PC wasn’t restarted after Host installation. We always recommend restarting after Host installation, though it might not seem to be necessary at first sight.

It has been restarted many times since the host was installed. Like I said it is fine for days, then just one day it will not send the CAD signal.

Hm. Bug may be? Have you reported this to our tech support?

I’ve been using ScreenConnect and never looked back. You can have it connect to remote PC/Servers unattended or you can have the individual go to a web page or click a link in an email you send them and they are connected to you. Allows file transfers, session recording, chat between host/client…etc. Cost is amazing! And best of all, I get to host the server, either on my own systems on in a cloud instance.

You might want to give Zoho Assist a try, Shane. It is web-based and there is a trial available besides a free edition (and we are not going to take it back!). It also has unattended support in the beta version and a few Spiceheads have signed up for this beta. Will be happy to enable access for you as well. Please PM me your email ID or write to support@zohoassist.com indicating in the subject that you are a Spicehead if you want to test drive. Let me know if you have any questions. Will be happy to assist.

If you are not handling too much typical tasks, you may give a shot on our Lepide remote admin tool that is available free and can be a good alternative approach.

We went to Teamviewer last year as well. Works great!

I think BeAnywhere is the solution that comes close to what you’re looking for. It does the most things that LMI does for a better price.
