Cannot see the Storage Section from the iDrac interface.

I have seen other posts where users suggest “this is because iDrac is initializing before the raid controller”, but there does not appear to be any solutions referenced.

Can the sequence be controlled? Or is a firmware upgrade needed? If the latter, why would DELL ever create the system in a manner in which the iDrac could not see their own RAID controller?

Youll need a later generation of hardware

The r710 is very old, later models such as r730 can see the storage much better

Hi,

Martin is correct, this was added in the iDRAC8 on the 13th gen servers. Newer features were also added with 14 gen. http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-file/__key/telligent-evolution-components-attachments/13-4491-00-00-20-44-44-33/Comparison-of-the-features-of-Dell-EMC-iDRAC9-and-iDRAC8.pdf?forcedownload=true

Can the iDRAC functionality be upgraded in this older machine? Is it a firmware or hardware issue?

It is hardware version of iDRAC and cannot be upgrade as this is version 6 and version 7 and 8 do show storage for DRAC. It is a limitation of the hardware and firmware as well.
