Nice quick fix. Definitely difficult to take anything seriously on April 1st, though. I tend to just blanketly believe everything is a bunch of bull, unless explicitly proven otherwise.

That was fast, almost looked like a true to honest April fool Issue
Upgraded, lets see if it is funny
Can you elaborate on this patch? Since V.65, we have experienced daily issues with our helpdesk mail. Namely, I have to restart the service several times daily in order for the message to arrive in the “Unassigned Tickets” queue. I have seen others have this issue as well. Would V.74 solve this matter as well? Thank you.

Google made a change last week where they no longer accepted SMTP connections if the sender didn’t include the domain for the SMTP HELO sequence. This resulted in preventing outgoing email (notifications, mainly) from successfully sending. So if you use Google or Google Apps, we recommend you upgrade to this version.
ABPMR_MN–can you reach out to support@spiceworks.com so we can diagnose what is happening? The 7.5.00074 update doesn’t change anything with incoming email.

Hi Sergio, can you email support@spiceworks.com and we’ll help you track down what is going on? Thanks!
Any idea when the remote agents last scan time not updating bug will be fixed?

That is a new bug and we do not have a date on that, but it is in the queue. The security fixes for the agent were our most pressing priority as of late.

Hello, after update e-mail notification stop working. Again configure settings. I Change outgoing e-mail (Exchange and SMTP), but nothing happens.

HI atang, shoot us an email to support@spiceworks.com and we can help you out with this. We can look at the application log files to get more info on what is happening when Spiceworks attempts to connect.
If you have any of the advanced settings configured at the bottom of the page you can also try wiping those out, and retrying. Often they aren’t necessary.

Jackie,
Can you provide the Bug number for this issue so that we can be on the lookout for this? Also, is there a full explanation posted about this bug? I’m seeing not only that the last scan time is not updating but the whole software inventory information is out of date. It makes reports on software inventory and version changes difficult to be considered accurate. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jose

If you’re seeing more than just scan time as outdated we should probably take a look at your scan logs to see what’s going on. This indicates a different type of problem, and may not be tied to the bug Jackie referenced. Could you send us an email (support@spiceworks.com) to open a support case?

The bug number for the agent scan time is #76383. If the inventory information is out of date, that might be a different issue - the bug focuses around the scan time and specifically mentions that the logs show the agent data is properly processed.

So when your presented information is:
7.5.00074
Platform
76865 - “End of file” error on outgoing google apps mail connections, helo domain required
…is that bug number indicating that the bug showed up during this version or it is fixed by this version? If it’s showing up for this version, where can we find out when bugs are fixed? I imagine there’s a tracker somewhere? Maybe another list or view of the version history that gives bug fix events?
Thanks

All bugs listed indicate they were fixed in that version. So if you still see problems with it please let support know. We currently don’t have a public list of all the bugs, when they were found, etc.

I am edging to get this update because I see this note everyday:
“Spiceworks updates are available, and will be required in N days”
Can I stay until I am convinced that there will be no more major hiccups in this major release?
We don’t have any major bugs outstanding on this release, but we are continuing to prioritize and fix bugs. You never squash 'em all!
Once that timer expires your Spiceworks installation will automatically upgrade on the next app restart/server restart, and you can choose to manually upgrade at any point before or after the timer expiration, as well.
Optionally, if you’d like to test out the new version beforehand you could copy your data/db directories over to a test server and load up the latest release to check it out. If you go this route be sure you use separate test email settings so you don’t have your production Help Desk ticket updates splitting up between the two servers.
We’ll be happy to help if you have problems with your test server or with your production server. Just shoot us an email at support@spiceworks.com, or post up in the Support Forum .

Is the portal page issue now resolved with this release? As the release notes doesn’t say it is?
