We use RingCentral and conduct regular audio conference calls through their conference bridge. Although we can and do record these calls, RC doesn’t provide any automatic transcription for them. This seems quite odd because RC transcribes voice mail messages by default and apparently can do transcription for the audio on video conferences, but for whatever reason doesn’t do transcription for audio-only calls. (Confirmed this with an RC customer service rep, BTW.)

As a result, I’m looking for recommendations for some kind of hosted service that can transcribe the recorded calls we download from RC (in MP3 format). Since we’re using Microsoft 365 I looked into Azure Speech-to-Text, but that seems WAY too complicated to set up and maintain for my relatively simple needs.

Long story short what I’m looking for is the ability to upload the MP3 files we get from RC and download something resembling an accurate transcription, that doesn’t require jumping through numerous flaming hoops to get set up and doesn’t cost a fortune.

If anyone is doing this type of thing and has a service that they’re happy with, I’d greatly appreciate some recommendations.

Wassup Joe! Just to set the table I can tell you that we are agnostic trusted advisors to thousands of businesses in all aspects of IT Procurement - with an emphasis on UCaaS and Contact center environments. We are one of the largest partners globally for RingCentral, 8x8, Vonage and others and as RingCentral users ourselves, we had the exact same need ourselves.

Now that you have some context I can tell you that we had been a beta tester and now in full production with a product called Jiminny (UK based) and they provide exactly what you are after - call recording and transcription for starters, AI and other insights on these calls and more. It is expensive and there are other options. They integrate into RingCentral (I think we were the or one of the first customers), as well as Zoom, Teams and other platforms.
