Is it possible to load asset tags from a .csv file to my existing inventory, possibly by Service Tag, etc.? Spiceworks already reads the service tag, service codes, etc. when it scans. I need to add a company asset tag, which I already have matched up in a separate excel file. If possible, I’d also like to add who it is assigned to as well, since I also have that in the existing spreadsheet. Is this possible?

If there is, I have not found it. For the last several months, I’ve been inserting asset tag numbers manually in my spare time.

FYI, if you add the asset tag in the BIOS, Spiceworks will pick that up too. I made that part of my setup process when I get a new machine.

So far, I’ve seen the same thing. I’m just trying to avoid the manual entry, if possible.

You could use the CSV import to edit specific fields in your inventory. You just need to make sure that the serial number of the device on the spreadsheet matches what is in Spiceworks. If you are creating a custom attribute field to store that info, you’ll need to create it prior to uploading that CSV.

Awesome! Where do I actually do that import?

Did that do the trick for you?
