Agent for scanning HW on the WAN

Spiceworks is agent-less which is OK for the LAN.

We heve remote offices & romming users for which we require an Agent installation that will report to Spiceworks on login.

Is there such an Agent?

If your remote PC’s are on the WAN and share the same domain or MPLS then you can use Spiceworks to scan these pc’s too. The overhead is very light. I’m currently scanning 47 remote branches with no problems. VPN roamers are a bit harder though. I generally have my VPN clients connect to the WAN once a month or so and scan their machines manually to update their configs.

no, just make sure you add all the subnets you want to scan to the SW settings part.and SW will do all the rest

There is no “agent”. What you can do is install SpiceWorks on each of those devices and set it up as a remote data collector that only collects from the local box. This is a very heavy way to go but it does work. But SpiceWorks has no agent.

There is an agent on the roadmap but no details as to when a beta might be seen.
