My wife absolutely loves the Paperwhite and prefers it over the old generation (without the backlit screen). It definitely saves a few $$ from having to replace batteries on booklights. It is also more durable than the older generation too.

I love my paperwhite. E-Ink in general is much easier on my eyes than reading on an LCD screen; that much is obvious. But, in the case of the cheaper small size paperbacks, the Kindle screens actually read better than a real book. The side illumination is much better than trying to use a book light.

For those who know what is an eReader: I found this one is very solid and durable, high quality build, very comfortable to use. The screen and resolution are fantastic.

For those who don’t know: You’ll not get fancy colors, multimedia, internet (well you have some limited access via WIFI or 3G) or anything you can get with even a cheap tablet. But if you love to read books. this is the way to go.

Since I have this little gadget I read MUCH, MUCH more than I used to do.
For me is the best eReader of the market right now.

PROS

  • Fantastic screen, crisp text.
  • Anti glare screen for crystal reading under the sun.
  • Back light for reading in complete dark.
  • 2 Months battery, Well that’s what adds claim, maybe is not exactly 2 months, but it’s a loooooooooooot.
  • Ordered around 17:50, received the day after, before noon.

CONS

  • Creating bookmarks and bookmark management, sometimes is difficult, I don’t like it very much. It’s much better how you can do it with iPad iBook app, for example.
  • Wall charger NOT included. (Only USB cable). You can buy an optional Wall Outlet adapter sold separately.
  • Price in Amazon EU Store: 129€ - Price in Amazon US Store 119$

Have the Kindle touch,no white screen.Found the paper white not good for my eyes.Love my Kindle touch though.

I went from the Kindle 3 (keyboard) to a Paperwhite. Going to a touch screen wasn’t a big transition, and it doesn’t show finger prints. It’s still very responsive, more so than I thought it would be to touch. The backlight is what I really wanted for dimly lit areas, and not having to use an accessory light. Price isn’t bad for what you get. I still buy books, but prefer reading on an eReader. I’ve used the Nook and the Kindle, it is all preference.

I’ve tried to love it! I’ve tried so hard to – the form is great, the battery life. What keeps preventing me from falling in love is the fact the screen does the refresh flip from black to white every once in a while. I have no idea if I’m just hyper sensitive to it, but it’s a killer on my eyes.

Giving a 3 because of that. It would easily be a 5 with a way around it.

I love this thing. It’s so much easier on my eyes especially after staring at computer screens all day.

THE ereader of choice. Great market place with Amazon, (you can also read purchases in their web app on your desktop or on their app for mobile phone). The device can have gentle “front light” to read in the dark. Great battery life. Easier to carry than 5 networking text books. Two cons I have: 1. the light is more harsh white than I would prefer - I wish they had a “warm” light color version. 2. I have the first paperwhite addition without physical page turn buttons… It can be a pain when you go to click the page to turn it and the page has a hyperlink - which isn’t uncommon in text books, the primary use I have for this device. But I think it still merits 5 starts and I believe their newer version has improved on both the light and physical page turning aspects.

Switched to the Kindle Paperwhite when I got sick of struggling to read my iPad in the sun. Since then I haven’t looked back.

Love my Kindle

My kindle is my traveling companion, I take it with me every time I travel. I like that the battery last for a long time, so it doesn’t need to be recharged often and the screen quality is good so it is very comfortable to ready even in difficult lightning conditions.

What are the pros?

Great reading experience. I like the send to my kindle option a lot!

What are the cons?

Touch screen response is not that good. The only reason I get it 4 starts.

Favourite Device Ever

Of all the devices that I have had and used over the years, this one remains my personal favourite being the most useful and well made. I’ve had it for years and I love the size, feel and functionality. I’m consistently impressed with how well it works and how well it has held up after years of use. I literally just read a book to my kids from it.

I’ve Worn Mine Out

Rested next to a stack of books on my nightstand, my Kindle Paperwhite has always been my go-to for long trips and waiting rooms. The chipped soft matte corners tell tales of numerous airport departures/arrivals and readings at the beach on the coastal waters of the east coast. I take my kindle everywhere and it shows. And this device can handle it. I have my entire digital library on it and this little e-reader acts as a library away from a library in the palm of your hand. Get one and don’t leave home without it.

Currently my #1 reading device, and probably will be for a while.

I’ve had my Kindle Paperwhite (10th generation), which is the 4th iteration of the Paperwhite, for I’m not sure how many years now (they were released late 2018 and I probably got it soon after that) and I’m luvin’ it! It it my “go to” reading device.
I’m pretty sure mine is the 8GB model, and despite having about 150 books/magazines/PDFs loaded on it, I still have about 5.4GB free. and some of those books are massive tomes like “Anna Karenina” by Leo Tolstoy or multi-volume omnibuses (typically 3-5 books, but one has 15!)

What are the pros?

Waterproof.
Touchscreen.
Storage space for lots of books.
Good pattery life.
Built-in light for reading in the dark or low-light.
Goes to sleep/wakes up automatically when closing or opening the accessory cover.

What are the cons?

It’s an Amazon device.
It doesn’t support OverDrive.
It doesn’t support the EPUB ebook format.
