Dear SpiceHeads,

Happy new year! It’s been a while since we last spoke, and we wanted to start off by hoping that you all had a wonderful holiday season with time to rest and recharge.

Now that 2021 is here, planning for SpiceWorld is well underway. While it was our full intention to develop a hybrid event for this year’s SpiceWorld, incorporating both in-person and virtual elements, we have to consider the safety of everyone involved before moving forward with any plans for an in-person gathering. Because of the numerous unknowns and our commitment to maintaining a safe, fun environment for SpiceHeads, sponsors, and staff, we are moving forward with a free virtual event for SpiceWorld 2021, September 27 - 29 .

SpiceWorld 2020 was our first-ever all-virtual event, and while we had a blast (and hope you did, too!), we learned a lot. We read every word of your survey feedback and are taking this opportunity to make a few updates to our event. So, what does this mean for you?

At SpiceWorld 2021, you can look forward to:

  • Improved ways to connect and chat, both in and out of sessions

  • The same level of content & production you’ve come to expect from SpiceWorld

  • A diverse spectrum of speakers and sessions

  • A streamlined way to chat with sponsors & ask your burning questions in their virtual booths

  • More fun and unique experiences

  • Registration will remain free again this year!

We always look forward to celebrating all things IT and Community in-person, but we also understand the importance of embracing our new normal - while at the same time, hoping that this won’t be “normal” for too long.

Registration is now OPEN ! Of course, we’ll continue to keep you up-to-date on the latest SpiceWorld happenings, and we can’t wait to connect with you in September.

-Dana & The SpiceWorld Team

P.S. We’ll be updating the website with more details regarding rollover registrations and details - stay tuned for more info!

Sad day:(

while I’m disappointed about it having to be virtual again, I understand and appreciate the effort you guys and gals have put into making it fun, even virtually.

I will be flying to Austin this year and joining the virtual event. Because nothing says we still have to stay home.

Woot!

Bitter-sweet. . .
Glad we’ll have another year.
Sad I won’t get to chill with my peeps.

I totally understand, but I’m so bummed it will be virtual again! While 2020 Virtual was extremely well-done, it will never replace the in-person event in terms of providing the ability to network and such. And socially distanced happy hours in chat rooms just don’t cut it, either! :frowning:

Bummed that it’s all virtual but completely understand why you’ve made this decision. Expectations may rise though… Will Uber Eats be delivering our breakfast burritos??

Sooo disappointing, virtual events just aren’t the same, was hoping for in person or hybrid, last year only got to go to 1 session since I was trying to attend from work :frowning:

There is truth in what you say…

I would consider doing the same if enough stuff (restaurants, bars, etc.) will be open.

Altough we all have our mind and fun clock set to be back to normal this Spring, it is understandable to see plans that include the observance of social distancing. Hopefully the event it will still have relevance and fun.

I am willing to put money on the fact that they will be open.
