Just happened: Vendor sends me an e-mail saying “hey what is the story on those licenses you may want?” and I told him it isn’t happening now. If I need them in the future, I’ll contact him.
After that 2 e-mails: one is a quote (did he not understand?) and the second is “do you have 5 minutes to talk?”. Literally 2 minutes after those e-mails, my phone rings.
So, A, you didn’t understand no. B, you sent a quote anyway, and C, you didn’t even give me a CHANCE to respond to the e-mail asking if I had time? Just ring my phone?
See you in 2016 Mr. Vendor…if at all.

Haha!! I couldn’t do that but there is one thing that bothered me from the word go. His business contact had his picture and to say it wasn’t professional is putting it mildly.

What is this vendor so I know who to avoid at all costs!?

Yep, that is a definite no-no.

I hate naming names and I’m really not sure about the TOS regarding this but let’s just say they are very popular in the video conferencing world.

You are under no obligation to “protect” a vendor, nor does the vendor have any right to privacy or anonymity when they are behaving badly. And, unless you signed some sort of NDA, there are zero penalties for sharing the vendor’s name here. I, for one, would love to add this vendor to the brown list.
p.s. You should also post this “unprofessional” picture so we can all shame the sales dick.

I sincerely hope I don’t get in any trouble with this!!!

I’ll put the pic up because vendors, DO NOT let your account reps do this

PM me, too, as I’m currently reviewing and evaluating options for replacing our video conferencing systems.

Pro tip: dragging that pic into a google image search easily reveals the errant vendor! It even pulls up their article about why they got their sales dicks to do this (they thought this would be a great idea!!!)
edit: wannabe Andy Samberg lookin’ maf…

I know but if someone adds 1 and 1, that’s not on me.
I get that vendors have a job to do so I don’t want to cut into their sales because that puts food on the table. Just act right, that’s all.
The image is pure gold, isn’t it? I would never want to do business with anyone who looked like this if they weren’t already established here.

That is seriously his vendor picture… holy sh1t, that is unprofessional as hell.
I can understand wanting to have a little fun with your picture, but my friends would ridicule me to sucking lead from a 45 if I ever sent them a picture that looked as such.
Wow, just WOW. That guy wants your business? That guy wants to be taken seriously?

Then PM me
make sure you let the people know who this vendor is. we deserve the right to protect ourselves
I don’t understand why some salespeople are so stupid.
a prospect has told me up front the are not interested. Great, I’ll move on to the next prospect. why would I waste more of your time (and more importantly my own, but I don’t say this to you) chasing you for no chance of a return?
this isn’t persistence, this is stupidity, and probably laziness of an ineffective salesperson. look boss, I am making calls and contacts, just cant figure out why I’m not closing any business.
people need to learn and respect their prospects
That is…Quite the picture
