So I enabled the automatic record feature for a Teams meeting.
Prior to enabling it worked as expected when you recorded a meeting → goes to OD/Meeting Folder or SP Folder.
After enabling it doesn’t go anywhere but into the Meeting Chat where you can download?

Have you looked for them in stream.microsoft.com?

I thought I saw that they’re moving recordings from Stream into OneDrive.

@dzee It shows failed to upload, we already implemented the policy to move all recording to OD and SP.
We went over our storage limit on Stream - probably why it failed lol

I can see all the recordings I’ve been a party to in Streams. I attended the meeting but was not the host. I’ve recorded some meetings a while back but don’t see anything in OneDrive for those. I typically assign the meeting to a channel however, so that might make some difference versus recording a Teams call or meeting that has no association to a channel.
BTW, I got a Microsoft Advisory today that they’d be auto-deleting meeting recordings at 30 days unless you run a PowerShell script to extend it. Max is 99,999 days (273 years) IIRC. Also said they’d eventually be adding a UI for this to the Teams Admin Console. Roll out begins in Sept 2021.

@dzee Is that advisory for meetings stored in Stream or for TMRs stored everywhere?

Here’s the advisory. Explicitly mentions OneDrive and SharePoint. I’m not sure I can fully summarize, so you can get it here first-hand from MS:

Just noticed it also will inform meeting hosts and allow them to extend. Also, does not preclude retention policies from removing earlier (but if you ask me, I’d be more interested in understand behavior with regard to retention policies that are longer than 30 days).

@dzee T hank you for sharing - I am usually on top of all things Teams but didn’t see this.

Usually MS seems to be looking for ways to fill capacity and charge for more. While that can drive up the bills, I’m never thrilled when I see SaaS vendors automating the removal of data. So long as they’re giving users and admins a shot to avoid the deletion I suppose it can help manage the tendency for people to keep everything forever. That’s what retention policies are for, though.

@dzee I think our retention policies are set to never lol
Everything is working as expected now. Must have been a glitch.
