I’m doing a little market research and want to make sure QuickCert is offering up everything that you need in order to get your job done as far as training goes. We want to make your experience with training the best it possibly can be. So, if you wouldn’t mind answering a few questions - we would greatly appreciate it! Feel free to answer however you would like:
1. What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
2. What do you like about IT training and what do you not like?
3. Whats your best way to learn?

1. What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
Almost everything is available - you just need to look in the right place. Not knowing where the right place is, that’s a problem.
Additional value added content on things like cloud computing concepts, big data, trends - vendor independent - that helps people grasp more than just the course or even videos on best practices
2. What do you like about IT training and what do you not like?
Learning – the cost – time it takes to get latest content (Think R2)
I love labs – the ability to follow along by doing it. That is how I learn. Unless I can dedicate my attention (see below) I lose interest. - - - - - - - - Ooo look – a butterfly.
3. Whats your best way to learn?
I like the convenience of listening to MP3’s whilst working out. My mind is clear and I am focused. Videos are nice, but to is listening to information whilst doing other things like working out or driving.

1- I had a hard time finding local Server 2012 Bootcamps
2- Keeping my “skills” up
3- IN PERSON LABS. Sorry, I’m not a fan of over-the-web as you don’t get the same experience.
1 - Can’t really say much for what’s not available because if it’s not available then I don’t really know that I’m missing it. I did have a conversation with an exam proctor who said that the big three he’s seeing now are ITIL, security, and virtualization.
2a - What I don’t like: restrictions regarding offline viewing from some training companies.
2b - What I do like: I’m with CA-RT, give me hands-on stuff. Videos are better than dry text. Text is better than nothing, but hands-on takes the crown for most helpful.
3 - Oh. I think I answered this one in 2b.
EDIT: And I actually paper more than I rock. So many people rock that paper is the obvious defense.

1. What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
There seems to be nothing available for Microsoft 70-346/70-347 (Office 365 MCSA)
Hi Kacia ~ thanks for asking.
- What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
MDM techniques for the enterprise - policies, strategies, how to handle BYOD.
- What do you like about IT training and what do you not like?
I like that there are so many options for learning (classroom, online, youtube, apps). I hate that the classroom and online classes are so expensive.
- Whats your best way to learn?
Short lectures with hands on assignments. I am a visual learner.
Everyone and their brother is now offering certifications (Airwatch, Apple, Linux, etc.) I am having a tough time determining which one is worth my time and $$. How do you get a good return on your investment? A lot of job listings specify everything under the sun (MCSE, A+, Net+, Cisco). Companies don’t care how much time and cost is involved in getting those certifications - they just sound good. My company won’t pay for that training. It is all out of pocket and on my own time.
They also keep updating the certifications (good to keep the product fresh) bad because the prices keep going up and they keep splintering the certifications. I am feeling like Helen Keller when mom & dad rearranged the furniture without telling me. I keep tripping over ottomans.

1. What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
Working on Cisco now so what I need is available.
2. What do you like about IT training and what do you not like?
I like that IT is always changing and there is always something new. I do not like it when I cannot tell if a vendor’s training has been updated. I failed a test because the training vendor’s training program was 1 year old and the Microsoft Test had changed some.
3. Whats your best way to learn?
Hands on, then Video the by Book.
You all ROCK!
**Actually Rock, Paper, Scissors. Lizard, SPOCK (**always Spock)!
1. What’s not available as far as new IT courses/training in general that you would like to take?
HL7 and interface implementation training (this is healthcare industry-specific but there are not many resources out there at all for people just getting started; there are appliance-specific and vendor-specific courses but I think something more broad is needed)

What do you like about IT training and what do you not like?
I like that there is always something new to learn and that there are so many different sub-specialties in IT. I don’t like finding old training material unless I’m working on an old system (make it easy to tell what version of something a course covers).

Whats your best way to learn?
I learn concepts best by hearing them so lecture MP3s are great. I need to see someone actually do the steps for “how to” material though so videos work best for that (I can make do with step by step explanations with screenshots). Ideally, videos plus some kind of hands-on lab online (that I could return to after class for practice) would be perfect.
One problem is ranking educators and pricing. Money amounts are hidden till you burrow or back door and find a reasonable price. And then is the entry level so boring that the lecture is so long your sleepy and not told how long a section is and when there are breaks and lunch. Companies step up their game by doing so. Or you have to buy more simulator time so you get more study/review time.
A nice touch is actually seeing a physical device in a picture such as a gbic or a mnemonic for 7 layer OSI model.
I would say the hardest part is filling in the information that is needed for memory retention, not fluff.
