I have been doing some digging and trying to find a good source of online or cd training. I am interested in MCSE or the new MCITP for the server 2008 series. I am also looking for some good network management training. I have about 8 years of hands on experience from desktop support through complete network management and am just looking to sharpen skills for my current job. I am the director of IT and need to better manage my network and windows domain. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I am considering the books that are out there, but I would really like some sort of training videos whether online or cd based.

Thanks,

Zach

I would look at CBT nuggets I’m doing a CCIE and have found there resources one of the best.

If it’s jsut not grabbing the book and tooling around with the software, then I’d take a look at trainsignal. Always been a fan of what they do. You can find the links all over www.petri.co.il

Often times training isn’t worth it. I like books WROX & Apress are good.

O’Really has a lot of books on networking.

I like Microsoft Press books and O’Really. IMHO, nothing beats a test network and a good book…

Don’t forget to mark posts as “Best Answer” and/or “Helpful Posts.”

The biggest plus for a training program is (hopefully) covering things in a linear fashion and learning the why’s and why-not’s and possible gotcha’s.

Books are great but I rarely have the un-interrupted time or energy to read them cover to cover. This can result in a lot of holes in your knowledge that can trip you up later.

I have been looking for it audiobooks but apparently the kindle can read to you…

trainsignal makes some nice videos but no source covers everything…

O’REILLLY!!!
They really need to make more of the “learning ______” series.

Ebooks, google and the Labatt’s brewery are my preferred trainers.

I did have an MCSE series of TestOut which seemed pretty well put together but all in all took more time than reading a book.

Also if you want to sharpen skills grab a few cheap computers and set up a test network then break it, and learn how to fix it. then rinse and repeat.
