We are looking at Asigra or Unitrends for Backuo as a Service, anyone use it and what are your thoughts pros and cons of the solution?
We also have N-Able and Autotask which both integrate I Beleive
Please stick on topic, not wanting to hear about veeam or StorageCraft as they don’t provide full support for physical servers (veeam) or Linux (StorageCraft). Thanks

We have Unitrends. Well, I say we have Unitrends. What I mean is that there is a thing in our server rack with that name on it. In reality it’s a turd. The service is a turd, the support is a turd.
We’re looking to put in Asigra in the next financial year.

Good to know :). Have you done any testing with Asigra to determine if its better?

My boss used it in his previous company, so from a personal point of view I can’t say. But I can say Unitrends has been awful for me.
My understanding is that for backup across public internet (MSP style) Asigra is more geared towards it than Unitrends.
Unitrends has DRaaS and BUaaS in the Cloud. I believe you need to have an appliance on-site in order to replicate to the cloud, however. I don’t have experience with this service, but I know it is offered.
Unitrends has been working great for me since software 8.0. One thing I learned is be sure to work with support before changing any retention settings or backup strategies to make sure you know the full impact of doing so.

Nelson - I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with Unitrends. It sounds like your decision is already made, but we’d like a final chance to see if we can improve your experience. If you’re open to this, please let me know.
Joe - Thanks for considering Unitrends! Sean is correct that you do need either a physical appliance or Unitrends Enterprise Backup in your local environment to replicate to our cloud and participate in our DRaaS. Would this meet your needs, or do you not want any local backups?

Would you like to hear about BaaS/DRaaS that supports virtual, physical servers and Linux?
@Acronis
I too am interested in what feedback may be coming from fellow Spiceheads. I was looking at Asigra last night so this is timely.

I’m open to acro is if it meets our needs
The core requirements are
Option 1. Customer has a prod and dr site and wants to Backup locally with replication to a second site. And possible replication to a third cloud site like azure or aws for long term storage
Option 2 would be a local backup at the customer site replicated to a central repository in our DC
Ideally we want both options in a solution and virtual appliances onsite using NAS storage behind it
Joe - Thanks for sharing these details of ideal setups. Unitrends could work in all of these scenarios. Please let me know what other questions I can answer answer for you about Unitrends.

I know you’re looking to talk to some fellow Spiceheads, but you should talk to some of our business development guys as well. They can answer many of your questions at the very least while you evaluate all your options. They’ll give you some candid feedback as well. Let me know if you want me to set something up directly.
Otherwise thanks to everyone for considering us.
Good luck!

Hi Joe
Yes, Acronis BaaS supports both scenarios - with Acronis Cloud and central storage in your DC.
It also supports onsite backups to the NAS storage.
Would you be interested in knowing more? Just PM me your contact details, and our BaaS folks will be in touch shortly.
