I’m giving the HP Business Outlet a go for the first time, but I can’t seem to get a hold of anyone to place an order. When I call, I get a recording saying all sales representatives are busy with current call volume and then it tells me to email them at outlet@hp.com and someone will get back to me, then it disconnects my call.

So I emailed them yesterday at the above email address and got no response. I tried to call them first this this morning at 9am EST when their call center opens and I got the same message that their reps are busy with other calls and to email.

So what’s up with this and has anyone else purchased any refurbished devices from the HP Business Outlet and if so, do you mind sharing your HP Sales associate’s extension #? I think I could get around this by punching in a direct extension to a sales rep to place my order.

Priscilla@HP - Any idea how I can get through to them to place my order?

We have tried to use them, but ran into the same issue as you. Once we did get a hold of someone they wanted to take our credit card number over the phone and write it down as their “system” was down so we passed. We find good refurb deals on HP gear on W00t and thru Microcenter.

Nope, I always go through a VAR.

Hello @Mr. Liquid, thank you for tagging me, and I regret the challenge you are experiencing. The HP Business Outlet has received high grades from members in this Community as you will see in the following post which I was able to retrieve immediately: Rufurbed PC's , particularly the replies by one member:

"I have always advocated for HP Business Outlet. Love those guys. You’re buying directly from HP and they’ll take it back within a few days if you aren’t happy with your purchase. Plus, you can get warranties (i.e., HP Care Packs) for cheap if that’s your thing. Checkout www.hp.com/go/refurbished and “Why Buy Refurbished?”

There’s still a stigma with the “refurb” word, though, so be prepared to get buy-in from your boss because the boxes are clearly marked as “refurbished”. Otherwise, you’ll get ugly looks from users every time they think they’re computer is moving slowly."

"Happy to do it. I’m a very tough grader but the HP Business Outlet has never let me down on quality.

In fact, I’m ordering two more digital signage displays this morning. Feel free to PM me about throwing in a free thin client. :D"

I have already contacted a responsive manager at the HP Business Outlet and have discussed your post. Our liaison also apologized for your experience and indicated that the team is still in catch up mode after being closed for the holidays. Additionally, the Business Outlet has launched a new order processing tool. If you ping me with your contact information, I will send it for a callback by a sales agent. Thanks so much for your interest in purchasing from the HP Business Outlet and we regret that your experience in placing an order.

I have been using the HP Business Outlet since 2011. Save a lot of money which allows me to put 3 year w/ADP carepacks on Elitebooks. I have a Remarketing Account Manager so I only deal with him. The one issue you may run into is that quantities can be limited.

This is disheartening.

HP leadership seems to rely on past success to make up for current failures to meet the base expectations of their client base. Going dark for days at a time is not acceptable for any major company. It damages HP and HPE.

Thankfully they still invest in exemplary people like Priscilla@HP and the Spiceworks relationship.

While we love our HPs, we have never purchased directly. We have always gone through our reseller.

I do too, but in this case we purchase refurbished laptops to be used as Citrix thin clients for some of our mobile users. I don’t want to spend $800-$1000 on a laptop where we’re going simply install Ubuntu and use a browser to connect to our Citrix farm remotely. So slightly used, low spec business laptops work great. Although our reseller (CDW) does sell refurbished laptops, they tend to only sell the higher end, beefier models. I’m looking for Celeron/i3 with 4GB of RAM and business class models. Not the cheaper HP 255 model line for example.

We use the HP outlet alot. Get on there mailing list, set up your account ahead time and it goes move very quickly. This is my contact and he always gets back to me quickly.

Your experience with the email/phone response is on par with my experiences but it has gotten worse over the past several years.

I have previously bought two laptops for my sons going off to college from the outlet. I was willing to put up with the no ability to order online, infinitely long phone wait times and rinky-dink spreadsheet order process because I felt it was a good value. This past summer I went to buy a laptop for my third son going to college. I called, waited, exchanged emails, got an updated spreadsheet, finally got a call back and ordered a laptop on 7/18/2019. Two weeks later nothing. Finally after 3.5 weeks it was shipped and while we were on vacation it arrived. Since nobody was home to sign for it was shipped back to HP. No email, no calls, no notices, nothing. I had to call to find out what happened. At this point my son had to leave for college and he needed a laptop so I canceled the order (by phone via email request of course) and bought another brand. Two months and fifteen emails later the laptop is sitting in the HP warehouse and I still do not have a refund. I finally blocked the order on my credit card.

I have always been a huge fan of HP products forever. Calculators, printers, computers I have purchased many of each. The HP business outlet tarnishes the HP brand and image beyond hope. This experience has been SOOO frustrating! There is simply no way to contact their customer support (if it even exists).
