Anyway to remove the test for domainname.com??

Currently the company I work for only uses www.domainname.com …

Believe me I know it should have both, but not yet, so is there anyway to disable this check so I don’t get the alerts anymore??

Yes disable the http test for domainname.com as this resolves to nothing that is live. The only web server is www.domainname.com so when it tests for http at non www. it fails and posts an alert saying that domainname.com is not responding to http.

So this is something that happens in spiceworks

Adding an A record for the domainname.com entry would be really quick and is a good idea anyway - plus add a 301 redirect from domainname.com to www.domainname.com (or the other way round if you prefer) to avoid search engines getting confused about duplicate content.

The http test that is done against the domainname.com. I mean I guess I can live with the alert everytime, it is just annoying seeing it when I know it fails

I’ve moved this to the spiceworks support forum as it’s about an alert in spiceworks.

Op - You could try Settings → Inventory → Monitors and alerts → disable the alert for “Any web domain that cannot be reached”.

Ok, so it was setup to test all web domains, I changed it to www.domainname.com I will see if that works…

Not sure if you mean me or not, but I think that’s a bit harsh. You do need to help us so we can help you. So when people were asking if this was a Spiceworks alert or not, and you didn’t respond, then it’s very difficult to help. After all, these forums cover all sorts of monitoring tools, as well as many other IT related issues, so we need to know more to narrow down what the problem could be.

Anyway, I hope you reconfiguring the monitoring tool (Spiceworks??) has resolved the issue.
