    1 Application
3 Spice ups

This looks very weird. What version of 3.5 do you have?

We released the final version last night. Would you mind downloading and installing Spiceworks.exe from our website and checking if this is still happening?

Version 3.5.30280

Does it in the new version as well. 3.5.30411

I have experienced this as well using both Beta 4 and Beta 5.

One machine had applications uninstalled, then reinstalled on the following day’s scan. However, it reports one application that was not reinstalled although I can verify through remote registry that is indeed installed.

Jon,

Which application wasn’t reported as installed? Did you have this problem with one machine only?

Dusty,

Do you have this uninstall problem with all of your computers? What do you do when this happens? Is Spiceworks just running a scan? Do you run Spiceworks 3.5 with a database you copied from a 3.2 install? What do you see on the Timeline when you go to one of these devices and do a refresh (wait a few minutes for the scan to complete). Can you check the Timeline of the device summary panel? Please expand all entries (except the Applications Uninstalled ones since those will take up all the space) and post a screen shot about what you see.

Dusty,

One more thing to check. When you see the Applications Uninstalled Timeline entry for a device, please check the Software tab on the device summary panel. Do you see any software listed there?

I have had this problem on several computers. I would have to say no more than 10 so far.

This is what has happened:

PPT Viewer 2003 is definitely installed (verified in registry).

When you get to the software tab of dsp33 device and search for Microsoft Office PowerPoint Viewer, do you see it there? If yes, do you have more than one version of it? What’s the version number?

If you refresh the device, do you get new software installed and uninstalled timeline entries?

Could you please send me the finder_re.log file that gets generated during the refresh. Please make sure the refresh is complete.

It does show up. See attached screenshot.

A refresh does not show any changes in the timeline, other than Adobe 6 being removed and Adobe 9 being installed (which is correct).

I installed the ATI although it says I uninstalled them

Jon and Dusty,

You may be in a situation described in the following thread and you just discovered it because of the timeline makes it visible.

http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/25297

It looks like refresh helped Jon’s situation, so please look at the following post for instruction on how to refresh every device from the command window.

http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/25297?page=1#entry-82551

I suggest to run a regular scan after that and see if there are any new weird software install and uninstall timeline entries generated.

DustyB wrote:

Were there an earlier version of the ATI applications installed on the machine before? When you install a new version, Spiceworks displays it as the uninstall of the previous version and an install of a new version.

No there was no ATI Software on the system. I installed it and it said I uninstalled it in the timeline window
