Hey guys,
I recently started working for a company and they do not have any asset management tool. I know SW has some good software but, I want something that I can just input new inventory and assign users with assets, so that I can keep count on who has what and how many items we have.
Thats all the functions I want. You guys have any free software you know that would be good to start off?
Thanks

And why couldn’t you use Spiceworks for this?
Honestly, ive never used spicework until just two weeks ago. Im not an admin or anything so I pretty much dont have any control of the systems as of right now. I wouldn’t want to use a software where I have to bug my managers for approval (this is a independent research). I tried navigating through spicework but I don’t want SW to scan my devices and tell me their status. I used “servicenow” for a different company and they were brilliant. I want something similar, if SW does the same (similar) job then ill look more into SW.
Thanks

Scanning automates the process, but you can also manually enter in your devices, either one at a time, or through bulk import from a CSV. Similarly, you can import all your users from AD or input them yourself, and then relate users to devices.
I googled ServiceNow and from a life cycle perspective, particularly for a bigger company (we are intended for the SMB), it definitely looks like it does more. I couldn’t get a good feel from the web page how it inventories.
