So… I am back in IT as a systems engineer at a local MSP. Left my last IT job to focus on a business and well things didn’t pan out as I hoped in the long run so I am back in IT. Which I love, so it’s not a bad thing at all.
But clearly things have changed, IT moves so fast… Give me some helpful tips below if you have any.
Also, does anyone use a mac for their IT work? I have a 15 inch MBP that was fully loaded right before the m1 chips so it is an intel I9 and I am running parallels on it and have windows machines as my work setups basically. I also do design work so having a mac is nice. First mac I ever owned bought it a couple years ago. I have always been a windows guy, and especially in a business environment but I wanna try to keep the mac and run it since I am efficient with it and used to it right now.

As you know they are very different animals. I’m sure you can run most of your business needs on the MAC but it doesn’t play nice in certain situations. However windows machines don’t play nice in certain situations so there’s that.
Depending on your enviornment, you might have to add a layer in your device management setup /security settings. I think at this point it’s become personal preference for many and if it accomodates yours and the business needs, then you should keep and use it. You’re going to get quite a bit of opinions on the matter but if you are heavy windows shop, a windows machine will obviously integrate better and eliminate odd factors when troubleshooting, testing, etc.
Since you mentioned you have a both types of machines to work with, you can determine which will fit your needs as time goes on.
