Hello good people,
we have set up a 2008R2 64 bit server for BE 2012 trial version to test it out. First problem was updating it. SP3 didn’t install because of the LU8112 error message (in the attachment). Then I installed SP2 manually and it was ok. But still there is no luck with SP3.
Next thing is, servers disappear. Adding them was easy and the first day all went well. I backed some stuff up, managed some libraries etc. The next day I logged on my server and there were no servers on the BE list!? I tried to add them again, it says successfull, but I still can’t see them?
This is so frustrating because BE2010 was so much easier to set up and everything I touch here is like hitting a brick wall.
Thanks for the help in advance

Sounds like you have a database issue, I would contact Symantec.

Not sure really but I went to check the application a few minutes ago and 2 servers (out of 6-7 that I already had) just popped out!? What is going on here? Am I missing something? Is this a bug or a feature?
Never seen anything like this and it’s really weird. I already reinstalled and repaired BE application twice.
I should contact Symantec indeed, just need a couple more opinions
Thank you!
I always have issues when installing service packs. When I did SP2 it messed something up with the database. I have noticed, it works best to be logged in as a local admin when you are trying to install any patches.

Ok, thanks, will start from scratch again…gonna post results
I have several installations of Windows Server 2008R2 and BE 2012 and have not had any of these issues. Is your OS fully patched? Have you run the Windows updates after you installed BE?

Hm, yeah I’ve made a couple of restarts for updates to install. Though still I have some in queue…mostly new ones.
Think I’ll try that too…thanks.
Moved to Symantec Forum for GG visibility.

Ok, I’ve reinstalled everything from scratch and it’s always the same. SP2 installs nicely, while SP3 stops with the above message. I did patching with local administrator rights and it’s the same.
Going to stay with BE2010 til a better version comes up. Never had any problems with Symantec till now. Im probably doing something wrong but there is no troubleshooting for this problem, Symantec gives me the link to remove the software with their removal tool, so that’s what I’m going to do
grabbing a couple of my Green Guys from support & engineering to take a look at this.

Hello Hrndavec It might be that there was a problem downloading the install file. Try a new download of SP3 http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH205351
To find out what’s going on we need to check your install logs - bkupinst.htm location C:\ProgramData\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs:

After installing SQL Express 2008R2 I got the message in the attachment.
After that I stopped all the services, tried updating and nothing…I don’t get it. How come SP2 installed perfectly and SP3 isn’t?
Sorry for bothering you all, this is probably a simple error but I can’t see how to fix it.
check and make sure that none of the processes below are running and then try the install again
beserver.exe
pvlsvr.exe
beremote.exe
bengine.exe
benetns.exe
beserver.exe
pvlsvr.exe
beremote.exe
bengine.exe
benetns.exe

Was monitoring services all the time and during the update they were all down.
I took a screen of some more errors. These are new ones after fresh installation of everything.
Thanks for all your replies…somehow I bumped onto this solution and it worked!
During the installation of SQL 2008R2 I changed the collation to English-US (SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS) and after that SP3 worked just fine! And servers are still here
