I really want to get into powershell. Do you guys recommend any books to take me from Nada knowledge to basic or intermediate level?

This seems a good one. I may pick it up, as i really want to learn this proficiently. Ive hacked together some ugly ones for looking at my exchange mailboxes, but they could be much better.

Also, the powershell cookbook from Oreilly media(or any book from them, really) should be excellent.

The Powershell Cookbook from O’Reilly is a good choice, it gives some scripts for situations you may encounter. The Microsoft Press Powershell book is decent as well.

Be sure to buy your books in the US!! I suggest a trip to SpiceCorps NY and a quick trip to Borders to stock up on reading.

I have just started reading the Windows PowerShell for Absolute beginners book but I have also purchased this one Amazon.com. It seems like a really great book. If you are new to any type of coding the Absolute beginner book is the one you will need. The Windows Powershell in action has more meat in my opnion. Either way you can’t go wrong.

How about online resources. Are there any good online tutorials out there that you guys have used? I see a few, but I have yet to have the time to really check them out. Just thought I throw that out there may save some time surfing around looking for them.

I’m planning to get the PowerShell in Action book that dking mentioned. I generally really like that book series. I have several of their Java books.

Hi all, I’m currently reading Powershell for Absolute beginners - its not bad and as it says is for beginners! so you dont really need any programming experiance at all. If you are well versed in scripting in shell for example then you may find the examples too basic - the examples all centre around creating games to run - maybe something more useful in the working environment could have been included but it does get you to program using all the fuctions you would need for a program and the games side of it keeps it fun and interesting. I got my copy on amazon for around £20 - think theres a Powershell for dumies coming out soon as well.
