My company has multiple employees who work remotely, they are not at a remote office, just at their homes or maybe a coffee shop. What is the best option to have their computers report back to Spiceworks? Should I just install the connector on each of their PCs? It just seems as though there should be an easier way to get an agent type of install for these clients.

Thanks in advance for any help/responses.

Depending on how you connect to the network from those computers. If you are using VPN you should have an IP address assigned to you and for all practical purposes you are on the network and should be scanned by SW.

I guess I should have mentioned VPN. We do have a VPN and some of the remote users are on the VPN, but not all are. I am looking for an option for the users who are not on the VPN.

Thanks for the response!

At spiceworld last week they have told us that they are working on a remote client that will be available later that can automatically contact spiceworks server when VPN is established. This is different from remote site data collector. The reason for the client is because Spiceworks does not do live monitoring. So if you happened to connect to your network between the scans your computer will not be picked up thus the reason for the remote client.
